Hey all, my alignment went out shortly after I got my lift installed and aligned. I just had it redone on Wed went out on some trails today and the steering wheel is cocked again and it’s pulling slightly. It was perfect after this most recent time. I did not hit anything hard or do anything that should have affected it. Has anyone else had issues with it not staying in alignment?

    What lift?

Sad to say that there are a lot of lifts out there that are shit off road, and are really just for looks.

Also, you say you didn't hit anything that "should" affect it. That's a bit subjective.

Haha, to clarify I didn’t hit anything. Just normal trail bumps. It’s a Toytec lift.

When you have it aligned again. Make sure the adjustment cams are being torqued correctly. Also make sure they mark the cams so you can visibly see if they’re moving. And also mark the tie rod ends too on the jam nut.

My guess was the cams werent torqued to spec. I beleive torque spec is only 100 ft/lbs. Id start there.

I stand corrected. Still bet they were not torqued to spec.

I'm not following the timeline here.
    I'll add:
    Check for bent alignment tabs.
Get SAI and included angle on the alignment results.

Mark the cam bolts next time.

The toy tech top hat has some room to move as well, tightening the 3 bolts won't hurt.

Another problem with Toytech's are the top bushing can wear or dislodge early. Look carefully at the top hat.

Do you have a lift block in the back?

If so, it may be that the rear axle got knocked so your thrust angle is off. Thrust angle is a culprit for off-center steering wheel. One of the issues when you put a lift block in the back is now you have two surface that can slip, between the leaf pack and the axle mount, not just one. The blocks have a pin to center them, but there is still a big amount of play as the pin is not a high tolerance fit.

When you get it realigned, make sure the leaf spring u-bolts are nice and tight.

The Aluma 2.0s aren’t the old Toytecs. They’re rebuildable coilovers, made in the Elka factory. I have a set on my 4Runner and love them.

I have an AAL in the rear. I’ll check everything back there though too. Thx

What size tire and rim size? These trucks can be a PITA to align when you start going bigger on everything.

check the cam tabs, they are fucking notorious for bending when you put bigger tires and go off-roading. even the a small rock can cause it to bend. thus every time you get an alignment it wont do shit. A good alignment t tech should tell you if they are bent or not. You could also climb under the truck and look for yourself. The solution to this getting a re-enforcement kit. Martin crawler makes a good weld on kit for 150 bucks. Its the route I went, I can wheel all day and the alignment will always be the same

How do you reinforce the cam tabs so they don't bend?
