Dealer Throws Off Alignment While Making A Repair

There are 6. Two for the core support, two by the front cabin, and two for the rear of the cabin. And you just need to lift one corner at a time but all bolts must have nuts removed and intermediate steering shaft loose as well

Thank you for clarification. I had a squeaky one a couple years back (passenger rear), loosened it up and hit with some lubricant. (Sounded like sheet metal pop). Since then no noises…BUT…winter is coming.

 

Sorry, I didn’t think my aftermarket suspension mattered. I do have Bilstien 6112/5160 with SPC UCA’s. The dealer was obviously aware of this when they worked on my truck. There was discussion of whether the work would be covered because of the modification at first, but later given the green light because they are unrelated. Now, maybe the alignment isn’t covered under Toyota because of aftermarket components, but if they made adjustments to it, shouldn’t they still be responsible for giving it back to me how it was?

Main point of concern is also what many have brought up. There is no reason my alignment should have been thrown off during this fix. I’ll see if they can explain to me exactly what they did and I’ll follow up here. I picked up my truck today and the tech was off, so couldn’t get an answer. Service advisor deferred to his tech, but did tell me the suspension was messed with.

I had an alignment completed at my local off road shop after the suspension install and they did an absolute amazing job with it. My truck tracked better than stock. I have the alignment specs I can post if anyone is interested.

There’s really nothing more to the story other than what I’ve posted. Dropped off truck that drove perfect, but made annoying squeaks. Dealer fixed squeaking, but my truck drives like shit. I called dealer and they told me I need an alignment after the fix (doesn’t make sense).

If dealer makes changes to my aftermarket components, are they not responsible to put it back how they found it?

 

With dealerships, you almost have to spell it out for them and get absolutely everything understood in writing.....BEFORE....they begin.

Example:
You go in for a leaky diff, which should still be covered under warranty.

Would it be wrong thinking to have them put in writing that if they decide to fiddle with anything else on the truck, that they own getting it back to exactly where it was before they fiddled with it? Or at least call you first and let you know that they might need to fiddle with something unrelated to the prescribed work. At that point you can decide if you will authorize that particular procedure/work, and make it clear that whatever they fiddle with, gets put back to factory specs.

Well, this is embarrassing, but you all deserve an update. In my defense, I was steered in the wrong direction by none other than the Toyota service advisor.

I took the truck into my alignment shop this morning and my numbers were unchanged. Immediately, the culprit became apparent and I was able to get it fixed. It was a tire balancing issue.

Toyota techs didn’t touch my alignment as it was claimed by the service advisor. Maybe he was attempting to sell me an alignment and then further diagnosis to “fix” my issues that would be claimed due to non OE suspension. Or maybe the service advisors don’t really care and are just trying to close cases by throwing random things at them.

Either way I feel dumb and I apologize to everyone for the unnecessary dramatic post. Happy to have my truck driving normally again.
