Few progress pics. Dimensions written on the cardboard if you can see it. Plan is to have the back half in two sections like stock seats. Mounted to stock seat brackets so they can bend forward to access tool below.

Platform will also extend out to the seats to fill the gap. That extension will be on piano hinges so they can fold back for floorboard access.

It all looks and sounds right in my head, you'll see lol

Sorry I'm using this thread as a build thread also :). I'll post up all specs and costs when done.

For the driver's side, I think I'm going to use tnuts instead of the nylon lock nuts. Should make install and removal a lot easier. I didn't use those on the passenger size since the board was a lot bigger. Used 1.25" washers on passenger side to help spread the load a little.

Now I know, you made a pattern and saved it correct? Because I would not doubt that if you did you could knock a whole bunch of those out and you can sell them. I’m placing my order right now.

Finally got my act together and found a gen 3 access cab I could use for measurements. As a result, I have created a version of my rear seat delete deck for gen 3 access cab.

I didn’t expect the access cab version to require so many changes in detail. I thought it would just be a thinner version of my original design. But once we started inspecting the back of the cab, we realized just how many changes were needed.

My access cab seat delete comes in two versions:
    1) for gen 3 access cabs with seats
    Or
    2) for gen 3 access cabs without seats

I love the Goose Gear 60%.... but I have other areas to spend the $500.00 currently. I am kinda thinking for that money I could take a shop class at the local Community College, build one with their tools, and have hopefully something close to the OP's masterpiece plus the knowledge to build more/other projects.

Did you wrap the top board with carpet? Looks great and simple! I’m looking at doing something similar for our Great Dane in the back seat.

My access can came without seats no need for a delete but I installed this DIY platform for the pups on day one. Have been thinking of working on a version 2 and am considering chopping out the metal for the built in cubbies to allow a little more storage room and possibly some drawers. Has anyone seen projects that go this far into cubbie redesign?

To me, Chopping out the metal seems pretty invasive and irreversible. If it were me working with your design, i would opt to cut out two additional storage hatch doors where one’s feet would be if they were sitting on the rear seats. Similar to the design I made. This way you could keep the factory design but still have access to more storage.

Here’s my rear seat delete, very simple. I used the factory hinges for the plywood platform. Road trips are so much nicer without the seats in the back taking up good space. Haven’t reinstalled the seats in a year… still wouldn’t want an access cab though.

I allready have access to the footwell space from the side so additional hatches at top wouldn’t gain much, and the reason I would like to fit a drawer there is so you can still get at that space without removing dog beds, fridge, duffel bags or whatever other gear has been tossed on top of the platform. It would certainly be pretty permanent as the metal bracing around the plastic cubby is welded in and would have to be cut out. But between that bracing and the space around the plastic cubby insert I think there is some valuable storage area to be gained.
