What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I can’t be bothered cleaning the engine bay. I mean why bother? Gets dirty every time I go off-roading anyways

 

I believe mine is permanently brown and I don’t think anything can help it lol

 

I've not seen the "Taco" stickers before - well done.

 

Looks good but looks like the devil horns are due for some attention.

That’s a camouflage rattle can job . My brother thought they were rusted also .
2 different greens and desert sand . ( tan)

My thoughts as well...also living in the SW makes it pretty difficult with all the dirt we've got blowing around.

 

I don’t go off road much except when cutting firewood and hunting .

 

What kind of paint did you use? Did you scuff up the plastic and then prime it?

Finished adding the trans cooler to the 2012. Ended up piping in line with the radiator cooler, for now anyway, because son was in a hurry to go somewhere. Have the extra barb fitting, hose and clamps to eventually bypass the radiator completely. At least now we have peace of mind towing a boat back and forth to Virginia Beach. No pics now but it is the Hayden 697 plate and fin rapid cool with the thermal bypass. Great $60 insurance for a trans with 140k miles. Could feel the hose temp difference between the inlet line and the return line after reached operating temp. Placed it nearly 2" forward of the condensor for max air flow. Didn't lose 5 drops of atf in the process by clamping off the existing hoses. Would like to add an oil cooler because there is a slight operating temp difference between the 2012 without and the 2008 with the factory oil cooler. Son, like myself, doesn't understand why they have a dash light for the trans that comes on "after" you have cooked the fluid. Hopefully we will never see that light. Always feels good to teach the kids something about cars. Getting too old to service the fleet forever.

 

Wire wheel, degrease, etch, and POR-15 critical portions of front half of frame - cab mounts to leaf mounts.



Rear half to be done when it's time to cut bedsides for new bumper.

 

Valspar ( Lowes) spray paint primer already in it . No scuff ,just cleaned with rubbing alcohol.
