So I’m still figuring everything out with lifting my truck, I don’t have any friends who do truck stuff in my area only low car stuff so I need some advice from lifted Tacoma people.
I have had my truck lifted for awhile now, and the front is maybe lifted 2.50 2.75?
No problems and I was running 31.? Bfgoodriches at the time.

some months back I got 32.7 cooper discoverer stt pros so I’m thinking maybe the weight and size difference might be causing strain to my cv axle?

I heard clicking the other day while turning on my left side, and then it seemed like it stopped. Some intense whining/rubbing noises started and I already ruled out wheel bearings. So I got underneath to see what else was going on there is soooooooooo much grease coming out of the cv boot, inside my wheel all over the underneath of the truck. So I’m ASSUMING it’s the axle and all of that needs to be replaced. So I checked the other side, it’s not nearly as bad but it looks like it will be as bad soon.

Advice on remedying this? I will more than likely hit up yota mafia as they are in the town I live in. BUT
Any suggestions on aftermarket axles, if this probably the issue, and really just any advice at all. I have a pictures of what it looks like and the sound as well

Forgot to add. I imagine the cv axles need replacing anyways as they are more than likely the stock ones and have never been replaced (176,??? Miles)….

Is the CV axle damaged or just the boot? You can change boots for much less than a whole axle if you have a work space that you don't mind getting grease on.

Sooooo I think maybe the cv is damaged? Last week I was turning through a drive through and started hearing clicking while turning hard. But I didn’t hear it any other time but figured maybe it was time to replace them since they are stock. This week some intense whining started on the left side which is the worst of the two upon looking. But I’m wondering if maybe some grease and grime got on the brake pad and that’s the whining/(kind of) scraping sound I’m hearing? Clicking I’m thinking cv?
I have a space to work on the truck so now I’m just trying to figure out where to start.I’ll definitely get some new boots

Don't replace the boot only if there is a clicking noise. Replace the whole axle.

If you can afford it, go OEM

also it is kind of weird. My axles are pretty much level. Could having too much positive toe from lower control arms maybe wear down the cv joints or something?

right now it is 176 something, so there are definitely things that need replacing.

Ok cool, I will try to do oem.

Could too much positive toe from an LCA maybe cause a lot of wear and tear on the cv?

Naw, those joints are designed to articulate full lock left and right. A little pos toe isn't what made it go bad.

They just wear out, don't overthink it..

Also toe isn't controlled by the LCA, it's controlled by the tie-rod

You thinking of camber or caster

If the alignment is a concern, get it checked/fixed before you put too many miles on the new tires

ah ok gotcha. Yeahhhh sorry I meant camber

I think an alignment would be a good idea for sure.

Alignment camber wise: It’s not a ton of positive camber but you can definitely tell it’s there. I imagine I could get an alignment and ask them to make it a little less positive? Is there not enough room to do that on oem lcas? it better to get aftermarket lcas with a little extra length?

Have you done the cab mount chop or any pinch weld mods? I suspect if you're getting clicking only on turns it could be the pinch weld and fender liner hitting. I ran Cooper Discover RTX for years in the same size and those mods are a must if you're running 285's, or 32.7" tires.

np! Also, if you still have that tiny little mud flap on the front side of the fenders, that's 100% it

After a lift, usually the upper control arms are first to get replaced. That allows the lower control arms to get the range they need.
