The only way to increase ground clearance is bigger tires. Of course that creates others problems that need to be solved. I'm guessing you have the 4 cyl. (It helps to include such information in order to give good advice). If so your options are limited.

Spend time reading in the 5 lug section. Because a 5 lug is what you have. Right?

Taller tires are what makes ground clearance at the axle lines.

On 2nd gen 5 lugs like mine, a 235 75 15 will give a real 1" of clearance with no rubbing issues, as long as you use wheels with stock specs.

I'm not sure if this is true for your first gen, but folks over there will know.

Thanks all..we have a stock 2004 4cyl 2wd automatic with very low milage….vehicle has new 215/70/15 Arizonians…TW states max is 265/75/16 for 2004 with no qualifiers mentioned that I found. As a newcomer..site nav is also unfamiliar. So..with 15 wheels…265/75 or 70/15…is the plan.

Or the underlying issues as suggested earlier be serious..can you elaborate?

That would be for a 6 lug truck.

The 15" wheels tell me you have a 5 lug.

    Am I correct?

Then I'd suggest the 265 will probably not work.

Note that our 5 lugs have a very different suspension and brakes as well, so be careful when ordering parts.
