Idk, I can't zoom in on the pic but it's not that bad, probably could pop it or just get a different door if not. Going to be a rare find anything cleaner with lower miles, prob pay twice that if you did find one. With the price of vehicles it's going up they are popular enough they will hold their value.

 

They changed the photo. Its bad. When I saw it I was ...mmm..no. now the angle makes it not look as bad haha

 

Witchcraft I say! So it's just the door then? I see some clear coat peel on the hood as well. I guess idk what Dan's standards are for his search. I don't regret buying mine, kinda miss driving it tbh. Got rid of my extended cab this summer so I'm kind of out of the built rig game till my happy self finishes the project

 

Its the lower corner of the cab. Insurance would likely call that a total loss. Definitely not a 9k truck in my book.

 

I can only see the dent about handle height on the rear door, too dark for me to see what you guys are seeing

 

It's the lower door and up a bit plus the bed too. It's the kind of dent that makes you cringe just looking at it. It was rough when it was a full side shot.

That color is know to peel, least on the double cabs for some reason. Mine is doing that same thing on the roof. Has since day one.

I don't think it's a 9k truck. It took a har hit some how right there. Frame could be damaged too.

 

I suppose if this is worth 6k, then the green one is a deal at 9k . Never ceases to amaze me what even a thrashed 4 door will bring

 

I know and I agree, I just haven't searched for a taco in awhile so its just interesting to see. I remember 6-7 years ago trying to find a 4 door through co-part and totaled ones were bringing 3-7 depending on the severity of damage. I don't see how they jump to much lower in the future though, your dollar is worth less and it takes more to buy things

 

Ruined my wind shield on my way down. Blew glass into the cab hitting something, rock I'd guess. So need a new one of those now.


@turbodb tires are super quiet. Also much softer compound. I don't think you'll get 50k out of them. But they are nice.

 

Cool to hear about the tires. Bummer about the glass, that always sucks. What's the carnage look like? Glass into the cab seems like it must have been a big rock!

 

Not sure it was huge. But was glad Devin wasn't in the front seat as the small pieces could have been an eye problem. It's not huge but not small. Glad the A pillar didn't get hit too by whatever it was.

Do you have glass coverage on your ins policy?

Good to hear on the tires. So they don't feel like Es?

 

Jerry is still out about the e-rating thing. They don't necessarily feel softer to me at least initially. The compound is definitely softer though I noticed it immediately when I hit a rumble strip.

I don't have any good insurance just liability on all my trucks it's not worth it to me to have better than that.

 

How does one boil the power steering in that thing?

Hopefully have the tranny dropped and engine pulled tomorrow.

Then let it sit for a bit while I wait for parts.

Yeah was pretty surprised my dad got it cleaned up enough for this project. But glad he did. So much nicer.

No headers here. Too expensive.

I will say my M18 impact paid for itself by zipping off the down pipe nuts no problem. Which I'm sure have never been removed in almost 20 years and 257k.

Quite a bit yeah. But honestly not that bad. The engine is ready to go is the damn tranny that sucks. So many connectors that do NOT want to come apart haha

Actually the best part is I could roll frank in here and actually do some work..

So..that's promising.

 

I still might sell mine and get the new one with the better lights. And I can have the friction ring instead of the dimple. The dimple sticks badly and won't release sockets. Annoys me.

The wiring harness in a Tacoma with the auto is a single loom for both the engine and the trans and is a real PITA! There at least 7 and maybe 8 plugs in that harness just for the trans and each one comes apart different. And some of them cannot be seen and have to be done by braille.
