Forgive me for not searching to see if this has been posted, but I'm shocked that Jeep is planning on installing charging stations on trails.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur, but I don't want to see EV charging stations along trails.

Is there some kind of protest that we can sign to stop this?

Rivian and Tesla are doing the same thing. Just the way it is. Just be thankful it isn't a gas station but clean electrons.

Did you ever see gas pumps on the trail? The year is irrelevant. It's BS and needs to not happen.

Yep. But at the start and end of trails, not the middle of them.

    Agreed. Just like gas.

If you don't have enough to get there and back, don't go!

So wait, they can’t compare for range, so we have to accommodate with this shit in nature. Fuck that.

Exactly. I carry what I need. With EV's it should be as simple as a solar set-up.

Get a grip, bring extra batteries, just like a jerrycan of fuel.

I'd rather have more horse power. Maybe I'll do a LS swap just to piss off the tree huggers.

If I remember Tesla will use their Powerwall storage batteries with solar so no wire infrastructure. Dunno how Rivian will do it. But yeah at popular trailheads.

I kind of figured they would have to use batteries.

So they are going to dig lithium out of a hole in the ground, not advertise or show the site where the lithium was mined, and transplant it into a hole in America. So that some hipster in an overpriced new vehicle can say that he is getting back to nature. Meanwhile, the rednecks with LS swapped gas hogs will harass said hipster until he goes back home and writes about it on the internet.

I will laugh if the first revisions of these vehicles are gas or diesel powered that bring the mobile charging stations.

I suspect they will be gasoline or diesel powered.

There is more energy per pound of fuel than for each pound of battery.

Advantage, the "charging van" has unlimited charge capacity using a generator set.

Imagine, going out on a call to charge an EV or 2, the pack is depleted, return for 8-12 hour plug-in to charge. Not very business feasible.
