Sporty commuter coupe ideas?

Im looking for a coupe thats enjoyable to drive for commuting to work (1hr+) and very reliable and relatively efficient.

I’m also interested in a manual transmission. After lots of deducing,

I like both the BRZ (new 2022) and the 2017ish Accord coupe V6 6MT.

Thoughts / experience?

 

Depends on just how “sporty” you want to go....

I have experience with the Nissan 350Z and 370Z cars. I found them fun to drive and (relatively) efficient.

Interesting, never thought of BMW as reliable. I have no experience with them

Those are good choices.

You could also find a used BRZ and put some simple cash into it to personailize it for your driving.

V6 manual accords are hard to find, buddy at work had one flood damaged and wrote off, he's still mad about it.

 

Looks like a 4th gen Prelude and a 7th gen Celica had a heated track session.

 

I used to commute in an frs. Had catless headers and full exhaust with a OFT Stage 2+ tune. Got 35 mpg highway cruising at around 70. When I got stuck in traffic, my uel headers gave me that subaru rumble that was music to my ears. Can't get much better than that imo.

My other vehicle is a 5-speed E46 that’s been great

 

Only had good experiences with 3 series. Had an e46 for 180,000 just a coolant overflow recall and seatbelt sensor recall. Currently have an f30 with 50,000 erg recall and fuel pump all dealer replaced. Highly recommend. Very fun to drive

 

Can't help with the back seat.

But I know a few 6'4" Miata drivers. Like Tacomas, there are seat mods that work quite well.

 

Mustang Ecoboost might be worth a look.

 

A ‘69 Corvette with a 427 is definitely the right choice.

 

If OP is willing to wait a little bit the GR Yaris may make a U.S. appearance.

I would love to get my hands on one of them.



3cyl turbo, 6 speed manual full time AWD nearly 300hp and probably 40mpg.
