Yeah, that’s certainly past a point I personally would ever want to go. Too hard on your body and not healthy imo.

Do you bot deplete tons of glycogen doing that? So wont you still lose some performance.

Every gram of glycogen will have 3-4 grams of water bound to it. So it makes sense to deplete glycogen stores and water load awhile before your sauna or bath. Losing a bit of performance is just part of it.
Now I just cut fat traditionally and try to complete lean or move up a weight class. Puts me in a good spot for a growth phase after the competition in the “offseason” while training volume is higher.

See to me it sounds like cutting massive amounts of water and glycogen would be pretty disadventageous to performance come comp time.
But if folks do it, it must be worth the gamble if circumstances are right.

I get the logic of wanting to drop a weight class though. You may win out even if you aren’t lifting 100%.

2.5 miles today at a world record 11:37 pace. Still sucks to breathe but hopefully it gets better soon. :fingerscrossed:

Work all weekend but maybe Monday I’ll give the gym a try. :curls:

Nope. Those are big numbers for this guy. I was at my first Dr.’s Appointment in like 3 years. I currently weigh in at 198lbs. I’m hoping to get to like 210 and stay lean.

How old are you stud? And why 210? Why not be a lean 190? Height comes into play also... If you are a staggering 5'7" like @ThunderCookies 210 would be Mr O time...

For those of your lifting weights for hypertrophy: how many sets per week are you doing per muscle group (on average)? The amount of conflicting information out there is making my nose bleed.

I actually have found that frequency tops volume for me. I typically do 18-24 working sets per muscle group a week, but that is spread across the week. I am on an upper/lower split and do 3 upper and 2 lowers a week. As an example Monday is Back prioritization it will get two exercises and 4 working sets each, then I move on to three working sets of 2 exercises each of chest and then shoulders. Wednesday starts with Chest, then Shoulders and Back with the same scheme; Friday begins with shoulders then back and chest, same scheme. I will sometimes add in an extra exercise here if something is lagging etc. Across the week I do different exercised for each muscle group so I get the same exercise selection I had during the bro split years. Tuesday is Squat day, Thursday is deadlift day...both with associated accessory lifts but the focus is really on getting maybe 5 working sets out of both main movements.

I will also say that at 44 and lots of years bodybuilding, this is what works best for my joints, motivation and recovery...I built a base though on the traditional bro split of Chest/Back/Shoulders and Bis/Legs rotated across a 5 day training week.

    Oh and

    227-232lbs
