Ok, now to finish my Arizona picture thread.

@OneGiraffe - the weather was great, most days topped out in the mid 70's *F. Flagstaff got around 3" of snow one night after we left there and were out east (Meteor Crater / Painted Desert area), we saw it on our way back west a couple days later.

At the eastern end of Arizona (town of Holbrook) is the Painted Desert & Petrified Forest National Parks.

Of special note is this rock, called "Newspaper Rock", because it is covered in petroglyphs. it is a fair distance off the trail, and you can't get really close to it, so I had to use lots of zoom on my iPhone, but the images came out pretty good even so.

    PFPD Newspaper Rock 1.jpg

And just to "top it all off".... I took these two pictures of the absolutely insane gas prices in a couple of California's more remote towns.

This is in Lee Vining, along the eastern Sierra Highway 395, not too far from the towns of Independence and Big Pine, which are of special note to a couple of our members here....

    Gas LV.jpg

And this is the town of Needles, CA, right on highway 40 at the CA - AZ border. The best part is, if you exit highway 40 in Needles and go literally 2 miles north, on highway 95, you cross the border into Nevada, and gas is - I shit you not - $2.86/gallon.

It always amazes me that these people had nothing but time on their hands yet couldn’t draw for shit. I’ll bet that if you put any 10 whatever residents together, at least one or more will be able to draw a better representation of the human form than these people were able to. On the other hand, who knows, maybe this is what the people really looked like back then. o_O

Good morning Whateverers and happy hunting @StayinStock and whoever else is out today :fingerscrossed:

Sorry work sucked. Hope your next shift is better ❤️

I haven't a clue but I hope you've been doing good. How's your back been holding up?
I totally get your pain. When I had started at my previous job it was a class of 15 and I was only 1 of 4 hired for the actual job we were trained for.

... We were also the 3rd similarly sized class for the project and only a handful out of the other 2 ever got job offers.

I remember one girl let go in the first week because she kept coming in a minute or two late from everything. Start of the day, breaks, lunches, etc... Who does that?!
You're damn right we do! :fistbump:

Thanks for sharing more!! So cool you got to see the petroglyphs!! Super jealous!

Those gas prices though... Boy, do we NOT miss them. F that nonsense

Nice! I've never stopped at most of the other places you visited but seen the signs for exits.
In the previous pictures, Lake Mead (?) Any of the times I been over the bridge at the dam, the water level was high up to the bottom of those intake dealybobs.

We have a lot of petroglyphs around here. They just look to me like bored ancient Native American kids that didn't have crayons or smartphones sitting around scratching on rocks. But that's pretty cool too. History is what it is.

I took those pics specifically to show how low Lake Mead is this summer. I haven't been to Hoover Dam in about 15 years, but it is always pretty close to full. All the major lakes / resevoirs in California are almost dry this summer as well. Kinda scary when you see them in person.....

I still think they're cool. I wanted to be an archaeologist when I was growing up so stuff like dinosaurs and ancient ruins are my jam.

This is the Gila Cliff Dwellings in SW NM. It was a long hike for an old man. But well worth it.

By now, everyone that knows me knows I won't show up.
It would still be nice if they'd invite me.

You’d be surprised the people that come in late, fall asleep in class, miss their alarm, etc…. So frustrating!

Internet down this morning, only took an hour and 2 'tech supports' to get ORBI going again. In the end, after trying the same thing over and over for them, I had her hold on, let me try this..... and fixed. :angrygirl:
