Yes I have the OEM LED headlights. I ordered a T harness from @daveeasa and plugged it into the headlight wiring. Then I ran it through the firewall up through the boot in the door up to the V5 blinker. Minimal wiring involved on the V5 blinker end but the T harness is plug n play into the headlight. Hardest part is getting through the firewall and door boots.

I’m not going to be able to install my V5’s for awhile, but I’d like to test them to make sure all LEDs are functional.

I know someone posted how to test them but I can’t find the post. Anybody have a quick and dirty on how to bench test the V5’s?

    Thanks!

So it took me a few weeks to install my white / amber v5’s. Normally I wouldn’t wait so long to install a rad accessory such as these, but my dog fell ill the same day my v5’s arrived in the mail (2 days after ordering on their release). Unfortunately after a week of trying to save my pup my any means, i ended up being forced to lay him to rest. This lost made everything else seem pointless. (Loved my dog more than anything). Now that I’m finding the point again, I took the time to get the v5’s on my 2021 double cab long bed trd sport and I have to say I’m super pumped on them.

I had been chomping at the bit on the v5’s. For me, the switchback drl function of the mirror turn signals gives my truck a higher perceived value. It’s odd that this option is not offered from the factory because it really makes the truck stand out. Nonetheless, I was so excited for the v5’s, yet dismayed by their delay, I went as far as researching and designing my own version. During my research, Meso Customs announced that the v5’s would be released soon, so I put my research aside and decided to wait it out. I knew that anything Meso released would be more than 10x better than anything I could come up with. I’m happy I waited.

Install is pretty straight forward. Normally I’m A red pill guy (matrix) but since I have converted my headlights over to the oem LED style headlights with sequential indicators, I assumed I would end up choosing the blue pill, to match the sequential indicators of my headlights. Unfortunately when I tested them out, the headlights and mirrors flashed in the same orientation, yet their timing was just ever so slightly off. As a result I ended up choosing the yellow pill, mirror turn signals flashes like a normal indicator. No matter. As mentioned above, I wanted the v5’s for the drl function more than anything.

The most challenging part of installing the v5’s was running the wires through the rubber boots between the door and the truck pillar. Since I had converted my truck over to the oem led headlights, I had to install a harness to mate my truck’s factory headlight wires with the connectors of the oem led headlights. Because of this, I was able to use the drl headlight adapter that Meso offers. Normaly I would opt to try and tidy things up by stream lining the connections instead of connecting Adapter to adapter, but the mess isn’t too bad that carefully placed zip ties can’t fix AND it gave me a little extra length for the drl wires from the passenger v5 to reach.

After running this wire through the passenger door and under then across the dash, meeting up with the harness from the driver’s side mirror, then through the firewall with the harness from the passenger mirror, the harness JUST reaches the drl adapter. Initially I thought it would be short. Thankfully it wasn’t but I did have to trim the driver side harness to length.

The quality of the v5’s that I received are great. Fortunately I don’t have any dead led’s nor do I have any hyper flashing. (I do have Meso tail light kit stage 1 installed, but even with that kit installed, I still haven’t experienced any hyper flashing). The white drl function of the v5’s is awesome as is the switchback to amber indicators.

All in all I am very happy that I waited and happy with my purchase of the v5’s! I even upgraded my speakers during the v5 install since I had the door panels off.

Now, if only @MESO could bring dogs back to life, then I’d be set.

This might trip some people's OCD, specifically for those with OEM LED headlights, but I think it is helpful info to know.

So this is something I noticed on the V5, is that it takes nearly an additional full second to return back to DRL from a flash. So from when the headlights have already switched back to DRL, there is a visible 1 second delay to when the mirrors DRL would turn back on.

In comparison to the LEs, the delay between the headlights and mirrors switching back to DRL is only about a half second or faster. So while noticeable, it is not as jarring.

Possible issue to be fixed in V6?

I thought maybe it was me thinking that between LE's and V5's. Slightly noticeable, but doesn't bother me.

I don't think V6 will be a thing, but I know nothing. Probably done with 3rd gen and will move on to 4th gen?

You guys are getting me closer to just selling off my v5's without installing them in the first place :)

The $50 sequentials I have are a-ok right now.

Honestly, I’ve been back and forth n getting these. I do have some Amazon sequential stuff that are plenty bright but the V5s are much better quality and the added DRL feature is really nice… some days I’d really consider buying it other days not so much.

You too! Also the V5s would help with safety… very important lol.

    Spoke too soon!

I was running errands yesterday and when I went to leave the shop I was visiting, I had to first reverse before pulling out and away from the street side parking spot. I threw my truck in reverse and then hit the left turn signal. And wouldn't you know it: My lights started hyper flashing!

Obviously, I started tripping so I instantly pulled over and began to run a quick diagnostic.

With V5's and Meso Tail Stage 1 and OEM LED Headlights, my truck hyper flashes when I put it in reverse and then turn the turn signals on. If I have the turn signals on and then go into reverse, it will also hyper flash.

My truck does not hyper flash in all other situations, ie in drive, park, neutral with turn signals on.

Unsure if this is what others are experiencing or if hyper flash occurs in drive too. :annoyed:

Yeah, mine does the same thing. I ordered the resistors and am just waiting for them to come in. Mine only does it on the drivers side though...LOLo_O

The only time I get hyper flash is when I have a turn signal on before starting the truck, and I think turning the signal off then on again stops them from hyper flashing. I have meso’s stage 2 tail led’s and had v4’s / just installed the v5’s about a week ago.

I think all TT1 will hyperflash when in reverse and the blinker is turned on. I know mine does it and have read of others.

This. It's a total tail thing across the board and @MESO has touched on it a few times I believe. I've got a TT2 and it does it as well. Don't think it has anything to do with the resistors, but more so the actual single switchback bulb is switching between amber and white while in reverse causing the hyperflash. The only time it happens for me is when I'm parallel parking and I've laid claim to a spot.

So if we are stuck in blown fuse hell, whats our options. The V-5's look perfect but hate that half of my interior lights don't work now.
