I have a boss head unit that cuts out over bumps recently. I have rewired the harness with wire tap connectors, which are virtually impossible to screw up.
    - power does not cut, just volume, and its all speakers not just one
    - ground and constant read 12 amps when tested with multimeter

I am stumped here any ideas would be appreciated. my antenna is beat to shit, could that be part of the problem? I really just use apple play which is connected via USB so inclination tells me no.

12 amps seems like a lot for a head unit, are you running aftermarket speakers? Sounds like you’re overloading the head unit, or maybe a loose connection inside the head unit itself.

Yes, Volts. sorry for confusion. My only thought rn is something internal to the head unit?

When sitting still with the Boss on.....try thumping on dashboard to simulate bumps.

This should isolate to just the HU. If it has the same symptom, then the problem is the HU or the wiring under the dash.

Really should be soldered. No way to vibrate loose.

so if one of your speakers is on its way out it will short and shut down radio outputs. Inspect each speaker push in on the cone and make sure it's not crunchy. They get that way from moisture and dust. Output cut can also happen if you have aftermarket speakers and the connections ground out on the door, etc. If you don't want to inspect each speaker disconnect one at a time and go for a drive. If you disconnect throw an ohm meter across the speaker side wiring it should read >= 4 ohms. Less than 4 ohms and you have a problem

Ditch the wire taps. Those things are the worst thing ever. If it's still continues doing it then the stereo is the issue. Go with a better brand.
