Question: what's the sealant? I just noticed it's still tangible and always thought it was solid. You can see I've had some contact with it and don't know how often this should be maintained

Sorry if this has been asked before. Is the drifter compatible between different generations of Tacomas? I currently have a first generation Tacoma with a 6 foot bed but if I buy a newer generation with the same size bed can I put it on the new truck? I know that GFCs can transfer between different gens but wasn't sure about the Drifter.

Yes you will just need to change tailgate window trims, which are like $60.

Here's a second yes. I bought my Drifter that was delivered for a 2nd gen. The rear window trim piece worked fine on my 1st gen as it was before they updated it. When I transferred it to my 2nd gen, I bought the newer rear window trim piece that came on @socalexpeditions Drifter since he put a "2nd gen" one onto a 3rd gen.

It's like 7 torx screws holding this trim piece onto the metal window frame.

    Clamps
You will also need different clamps to secure the Drifter to a 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma.
    GCI G-133 for 2nd and 3rd gens.
GCI G-1 for 1st gens, unless you modify the G-30 to fit like I did:

    Antenna
If you put it on a 2nd gen that has a Shark Fin antenna, you'll need to trim it down, or get a shorter cover from @Anderson .
Since the 3rd gen is more of a Hot Wheels toy with more metal and higher bed sides, the Drifter clears the sharkfin (I think).

On my 2nd gen with the @Anderson flattened shark fin antenna:

Just a reminder that it is against the site's BST rules to sell your spot in line. You can't sell a product you don't actually own yet.

That sucks. What happened recently to shut this down? I've been seeing many people wanting to get cashflow back in hand due to COVID-related delays with the different manufacturers (not just Vagabond - this thread) and transferring their spots in line to other people without any comments from any mods until now.

If we're going to be all legal beagle about it... no one's selling a product. They're selling a spot in line to get a product. The purchaser receives no product, just reduced time to receive a product, usually at no extra cost to the purchaser, and sometimes at cost to the seller!

Rules are fine, but pedantically enforced ones are stupid. My two cents.

I personally think people should be able to sell their build spot, especially given the circumstances. But @MTgirl 's link does specifically say in the rules that it's not allowed here.
Holding onto $1000s of people's money with absolutely no word shouldn't be allowed either though...

You can email the company on your own terms and schedule a transfer of ownership for a virtual placeholder (the spot). You can say #16 applies and that's all good; I encourage anyone wanting to sell/buy spots to just email Phil with the other person CC'd and that should do it - done it twice.

that's kinda the exact point of why we made a rule about this. the seller technically has nothing to sell, no physical product in hand. kinda like selling ocean front property in Kansas
the long lead times is one of the reasons we instated the rule. what if someone buys a "spot" and the company goes belly up the next week? do they have the same recourse as the orignal buyer when it comes to getting a refund? no ones really clear on that

if they allow that that's great. but we're not allowing folks to sell something they dont outright own.

Is it stated somewhere that vendors are exempt from the BST rules?

If I'm not mistaken and a mod can clearly correct me, vendors actually may pay TW for the privilege of selling there goods on TW and therefore abide by a different user agreement.

Well, my question stands. I think it's important to find out and understand what the answer is. If there is no exemption, then the point that @MTgirl made "that's kinda the exact point of why we made a rule about this. the seller technically has nothing to sell, no physical product in hand. kinda like selling ocean front property in Kansas" would be applicable to vendors.

    ...too much shit to list.
Guys come on. Reservations cannot be resold on this site. Lisa was clear on that. @socalexpeditions already told you the easiest method to sell your spot in the Vagabond world.

Vendors do not pay to be vendors on this site.

Buying from a vendor isn’t buying a reservation. You are buying a product from the vendor. It’s a business, receipt, taxable, etc. Buying second hand reservation gives you none of that. Apples and oranges.

Please bring the thread back to what it’s intended, Specs and FAQ about the the Drifter, and stop cluttering this thread. If you want to talk more there is a chat with the staff section. Thank you.

    Back to Drifter stuff.

Vagabond is offering this new Tern window and I ordered it. These are pictures from Phil - Price on this one was $775. I believe 450 x 1100, and it has the inside shade/bug screen.

I originally went with the FrontRunner Door but this won me over.
