Hey listen... more power to you if you actually do this. I like to take care of my stuff too. But if I didn't know any better I would think today was Friday and you were just looking to start a new dumpster fire... :bananadead:

i definitely appreciate your passion for clean oil, and it is expensive.. I must say during the first 5-20k miles on a new engine it’s important to change due to possible metal shards from factory…
But filtering it yourself is a bit odd
& time consuming. Most ppl don’t have that and will pay for new. Keep on keepin on I’d say :notsure:
    :thumbsup::oldglory:

by the way- I had a Dakota 02
From day 1, changed the oil and filter every 3k miles. It has over 275k on it and still on the road. Valvaline 10/40

    Cold start: something something o_O

Ok so the oil film does not completely disappear, not like you hit the engine with brake cleaner and reassembled it. Yes it will start with a weak fluid film, but the component loading is also low (relative to design spec). If you give it at least a few seconds to a minute before hammering on the gas, it’s fine.

Remote start only runs 15 min, depending on ambient it likely will not hit operating temp. That sucks for oil life way more than sitting since it has to consume the additive package faster and circulates the water moisture, which doesn’t get warm enough to vent off.

Just change it every 5k or year if you are paranoid. Not like Toyota completely half assed the engine engineering.

That’s nothing. I remove contaminants from my oil after each drive by draining it and transferring it into a homemade centrifuge that’s powered by my stationary bike. I work off a thousand calories and whirl those contaminants out.

Then I fill a doll shaped like Scarlett Johansson with the oil to keep it warm until morning via spooning. I wake up early enough to fully disassemble the motor so I can hand lubricate every component, then reassemble, then poor the remaining oil in directly from
    Scarlett.

Obviously this works because the engine hasn’t seized even once yet.

    First off.... Okay!!!...

Second, oil has additives that makes the oil cling to metal parts to prevent dry oil start up. As @tonered mentioned, if you have ever taken an engine apart even after draining the oil, all the parts are covered in oil. Even wiping them down the oil still clings to the parts. So starting your truck with your remote start only burns fuel.

Now the other issue with remote starting your vehicle is the amount of idling the engine will be doing. This will wear out your engine far quicker than cold starts. Cold starts are only bad if that's all you do, cold start, barely get the engine warm shut off, repeat. Engines are designed to run... off idle for thousands of kilometers/miles. Some, well in to the half a million... idling engines don't have the same long life.

Lastly, your overly complicated routine could be doing more harm than good. You are opening up the system way too often and greatly increasing the risk of more contamination than you are trying to clean out. The oil filter system is well designed and proven if well maintained... not over maintained. Following the factory recommended intervals are more than proven to be enough.

Why do I feel like this a troll!!

Solid regimen...but all of that work is negated by the fact that you are using that Amsoil garbage.

I don't use Amsoil but you may be at risk of pissing off a few loyalists...

I have nothing to add to this thread. But I am curious if OP is/was an engineer. My gut says yes.
