Alright, I've gotta be missing something here. What's the difference between a $100 billstein 5100 and an $800 king remote resi shock? Is it just the extended travel or do you get amazing things I'm missing that justify the 8x price hike?

I'm a bi-weekend warrior. 90%+ on road on billstein 5100s (stock coils set on 2”) which treat me very well on/off road already. Rides better than stock off road, don't feel as many bumps almost like a SxS. I've noticed that fades about 4hr in of continuous wheeling, and the shocks making a hissing noise which I'm assuming is just the liquid inside cooling. As long as it bounces back to where it was which it seems to, I'm more than alright with it

Stock coils were never intended to provide any lift. So compressing it yields less performance every clip you go up. This is the 5100's biggest weak point.

6112's are larger bore, and come with a specific spring designed for lift. They ride much better. They are also larger so they perform much better, longer.

8112's are all that plus reseviour which helps with heat and consistanct performance offroad.

Fox's are almost out dated now, but I still order them in for people that like the brand. It's a bigger shock with a specific spring designed for it.

4 hours of offroading is about the limit for a 5100 and you should consider a bigger bore shock at least like the 6112.

Top tier kings, fox, and icons are all intended for abuse. Much larger parts and more fluid to allow for rapid cooling. Big money, but its worth it if you hammer the crap out of the truck.

I'd suggest 6112's and 6150's for you next upgrade.

I do moderate offroading and cavitated my KYB stock shocks badly, so I'm running 4600's now.

Spend big money for fast and abuse, or buy bilsteins for long term reliability if you don't abuse your truck....

<--- paid for Kings because they are blue :anonymous:
