It’s private property with no public access roads/trails. Otay Mountain Truck Trail is minutes away and perfectly legal.

Nope. I drove right by a city worker at one of the utility poles near the entrance. I waved at him, he waved back and I kept going

One guy ignoring a problem that isn’t his doesn’t make things ok. It’s not city property and he’s not law enforcement so why would he care?

Never said it was okay. I just shared my experience. It was a risk I was willing to take and I would say that it paid off

What part of PB are you in? Thankfully I've been lucky and haven't had any of my sh*t messed with in the last 10+ years living here.

Every place has their weirdos. Driving to work this morning (PB to Poway) there was a bum throwing sh*t at vehicles passing by on Pomerado road... dude looked like he just came out of the bushes lol (south side of Pomerado). Thankfully i drove by in between shots but there was a big pile of garbage i had to drive through. Thought that was an interesting place for a bum to be hanging out, just on the side of the road by a bushy canyon far away from anywhere he could panhandle.

Closer to mission than i would prefer (well north of garnet), but its nice being able to walk out and surf in the AM before work. im obviously being targeted, these were dudes that knew what they wanted and how to get it, not your run of the mill tweaker.

Ah ya, i've always been up in North PB (Opal street for years, Tourmaline Street for years, now i'm right up by Kate Sessions park - did a stint at an apartment literally right across the alley from Wendy's on Grand/Ingraham... smell was fantastic). I don't even head out into the main part of PB much anymore. Kept reading about the homeless and vendors clogging up the boardwalk.

Sucks to hear about your stuff being stolen. I'd be super pissed!

Most of the theft stories I hear from my customers are from PB, seems that is quite the hot spot for lights!
I assume its because there are a million overland Tacoma setups running around down there so the lowlife thieves see it as an opportunity to get some expensive stuff rather quickly.
I have installed a bunch of theft resistant hardware on a lot of setups for guys and even some of them have been overcome. I guess it depends on how well equipped the bad guy is, but it really doesn't take much to defeat that kind of hardware if you have a chisel and a hammer.
Also the problem these days is that the cordless cutters make quick work of just about anything so if they want it they will get it unless they dont see you in the first place!

Man that sucks to hear, sorry that happened!! But I tend to see it a lot and usually from PB for whatever reason it seems to be the spot for that kind of activity..super lame. They should loose a finger of their choosing for the first time caught and it only gets worse from there..

In California with prop 46 it reduces the penalty down to a misdemeanor for theft of anything under $950. Its literally just a ticket!! The penalty should be much more severe IMO.

That might be a bit extreme, I would start with an index finger and thumb of the primary hand for the first offense :sawzall:
Desert was awesome last weekend, was still a little warm but not too bad. But now we need some rain because the dust is wicked!!

Yep, the dust was pretty bad. I was sitting at one of the checkpoints for the D38 races for a while but decided to leave when the wind switched directions.
