Searching for a replacement washer fluid tank and see mention of with/without "cold weather package".

What was that and what difference does it make?

Are you seeing this with OEM parts or aftermarket?

Perhaps it means the all weather guard package?

    Here's a discussion: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/all-weather-guard-package-what-did-it-include-1998.621063/

    And a link to a brochure: http://www.russauto.com/ncinv/modelinfo/brochures/03Tacoma.pdf

Since you have a double cab (I realize you have a 2002, not a 2003 like the brochure I found), the all weather guard package may have been an available option. You can call a dealer with your VIN to see if you have it. The can also provide you with the correct part number based on your VIN, although I suspect either part would fit.

I see it with the aftermarket packages that list 2wd or 4wd as fitment. I'll look up the OEM parts online and see if that helps any. Maybe I can live with some HVAC tape and silicone to seal up the filler neck. It's a truck after all.

    Simple.

If your washer fluid tank needs replacing, just replace with the original part.

Now, fill it with washer fluid with freeze rating below your typical lowest winter temperatures.

The common blue stuff is typically available with a -20*F, there are other products rated to -34*F. Always allow space for the extreme temperatures when ice may form in the fluid. Never use just water.

The Toyota USA site will not let me log in. I was gonna check as built there as I have before. I take all this as a sign. A sign that I should take one of those many tubes of clear silicone I have laying about and seal up the holes and cracks in the neck, rather than spend 50 to 100 bucks needlessly.

So, that's what I did. Even used a nitrile glove (on my hand) to smear it about. Still stinks too, so I expect it will cure just fine and work as well as it did. For now.

Cold weather package is for extreme northern states it had a heater built in. So as someone said if your area doesn't get that cold get the plain one.

Can anyone verify? I found reference to the all weather guard package ($70 value), but not the cold weather package. As far as I can tell, the tank for the all weather package is larger, but I seriously doubt Toyota made a tank with a built-in heater, especially not for a Tacoma at $70. At extreme temps, the fluid just freezes when it hits the windshield, even if it's liquid in the tank.

It may not of been a heater it may have been a insulated tank, But I have seen on here where I guy was asking the same thing as you and that was what he was told. I think he might have been from Canada and that was a oem part for those trucks. Anyway long story short by the cheap one and go with it. If make and model is correct it will fit.

there was a small windshield washer reservoir mounted in the engine compartment on the inner fender well (passenger) that I thought was the base/standard setup, then the larger reservoir in front of the passenger tire was a package upgrade (not sure if it was all weather guard or cold weather) - and I thought there was a starter difference as well with one of those packages? (might be mixing up my model lines, though)

In any event, the small engine compartment reservoir is a great option for getting rid of the typical reservoir in front of the passenger tire when upsizing your wheel/tire combo.

The washer tank has a sensor at the bottom that will light up an idiot light on the dash when there is no fluid. If you look under the front bumper you can see the underside of the tank. The sensor will be at the bottom with a couple wires sticking out of it that also connect into the pump, which is mounted on the side in the rear of the tank. If you have the sensor, be gentle with it when removing (it's about $60 from the dealer) and don't damage the grommet. This is for people with the cold weather package.

My understanding is the cold weather package is a larger windshield washer fluid tank and the rubber seal around the windshield sticks out further.

That’s a good price if it includes the sensor. The difference between them (if you scroll farther down you will see) is the other tank does not include the sensor and “excludes” cold weather package.
