Same reason cops don’t fire warning shots. While you’re warning the other guy is aiming.

Hard to aim a weapon when you're under a car trying to steal a CAT.

Perhaps, just get in the car, start it and drive off.......speed bump?

They're taking a car part. You find it easier to take a life than me that's all I'm saying. If they point a gun at me, then yes all bets are off. But they are typically busy with a sawzall.

I'm not sure stealing a cat is a crime that should be punishable by death.

If someone trespasses on your property and you confront them with a gun and they don't leave or listen to your directions, that's a whole separate issue.

I do agree that there's a lack of consequences though.

I'm sure there's a lot of people on TW that've had family members that faced hard times and did things they weren't proud of and then got themselves together. Death doesn't give people a chance for redemption, though not everyone deserves that chance, of course.

Geesh, our species is getting sensitive. Was a time folks would gather for a good execution. Funny that as executions have decreased crime has increased.

It is somewhat telling when the police say nothing can be done about a cat theft but respond with the entire department when a cat thief reaches room temperature.

Hey, dorks, back to passive deterrents for a minute...has anyone fabbed up something basic using an off-the-shelf sheet of metal? I kind of want to make my own instead of paying $300. What do you all figure, $70-100 in materials? Cut the silhouette of a cat into a piece of aluminum (just in time for Halloween!), bend some edges, drill some holes, get some odd hardware, and voila?

If fabbing a cat shield is anything like DIY'ing armor, the resounding answer I've heard is "you'll appreciate why pre-made costs so much".

With the know-how and time, it could be a fun weekend project.

I'd rather install that then shoot someone over trying to steal it.
