Is there any changes whatsoever between the 2021's and 2022's?

Pro has revised suspension, Trail has new suspension, locker, wheels. Both these have big increases in price over last year (automatics)

Rest of lineup is just colour changes and slightly more expensive.

Big jump in the PRO , was considering upgrading my 18 but maybe wait till next gen or new 4 Runner comes out .
The finance rates are have decent from the usual high rates Toyota usually charges.

It's worse than I expected. They restricted both Access Cab and Double Cab TRD OR to 4 colors only. (White, magnetic grey, black and blue crush)

The cheapest Canadian Tacoma is now a DCLB SR/SR5.

The only way to get an automatic lunar rock is to buy the new premium trail edition which is $2000 more expensive than the TRD OR. I bet it will be hard to come by too.

Strangely enough, manual transmission DCSB is now the option that offers the widest color variety (all colors but Silver and Lime Electric).

2022 is really terrible year to get a Tacoma in Canada. I wish I hadn't waited and got a cement Tacoma last year.

You can get Army Green and Lunar Rock on Trail, Sport Premium and OR Premium automatics. They did this last year as well where the Army green was a trail or premium trim colour.

The DCSB Tacoma is a trd sport premium, that’s why so many colour options, much like the off road premium.

I hate how the Canadian brochure contradicts itself regarding features listed. The access cab trd off road lists LED DRL and fogs plus headlights, but not on the double cabs, even with the premium packages. Also the file photo of the lunar rock shows a silver bed decal when ones I see popping up on YouTube are black with red. The brochure also has a trd sport with a black bumper valance. There is also a trd sport with the American style led headlights in the brochure, which I don’t think is an option for us.

So many ppl were just saying F it to Toyota because of their inflated financing rates. My Gladiator was 3.49, my ZR2 is 1.99, my Tacoma was 5.??. I think they finally realized there is healthy competition out there and needed to do their usual very little improvement.

Toyota Canada is F'ed up, if you go through different configurations you can have the same list of available add on's, but the prices differ from trim to trim for the identical add on's!

I do find it amazing that a TRD off road access cab with manual is now one of the most affordable small trucks! No complaints on that! I did notice the manual PRO last yr was about a $7500 upgrade, this yr it is almost 10k.

It irks me not having LED headlights on the premium trims in Canada too. Why can't we have them like the Americans?

Interest rates are pretty decent for a brand new model year. I'm on the fence on committing still, I'd like to wait for the new gen or 4Runner but I have higher km's on my current truck and am worried about resale slipping away, even in today's crazy times.

Ah that's right I forgot to click that option. Anyway, still fewer options than before and no colors unless you pay $50 000 + taxes.

I feel similar about waiting on the new 4Runner, but am afraid they might shit the bed again with a terrible powertrain. Getting the last of the current Gen is on my radar, same goes for the manual Tacoma's...

my 2005 just rolled over 300k and it’s still in excellent shape. It’s worth double what I paid for it 5 years ago so I want to capitalize on that for sure. My biggest gripe is the non LED headlights on a $50,000 midsize truck in 2022. My 2020 tundra trd sport premium has full led lights up front and they are very nice after dark. My 2016 4runner was borderline dangerous and I hope the Tacoma isn’t the same.

Most popular current rumour I've seen for new Taco/4Runner are turbo 4cyl for next one. Considering gas prices in future I'd be ok with that.

Exactly. This day and age not having a LED option on an otherwise loaded truck seems crazy. A base model sure, but not when you're checking so many other option boxes and paying $50K. Those should be part of the "Premium" package. I paid retail for my '09 6 years ago and now am just shy of 300K myself, I haven't checked on actual trade in value yet but should give it a try and see.

Ya gas is crazy where I am right now, nearly $1.50 for regular (87). My ZR2 diesel can consistently get between 8.5 - 9.0L/100km on the hwy, my 2018 TRD off road with the same size 255's was more like 13-15L/100km range. These new 4cyl trucks don't seem to be much better in real situations, perhaps when driving for fuel economy maybe. The diesel option cost me about $70 more a month on payments, but more than pays for itself as I did about 45000km last yr

The Tacoma will get LED headlights around the same time it gets rear discs:rofl:
I've been looking at Tacomas, but with gas at $1.70 a liter here, and Toyota offering some pretty old engine technology for the 2022's, but at an 8-10% increase in price. Toyota really needs to up their game in regards to fuel economy.
I'm also not so keen on not having any base models offered with a manual transmission, which makes 1/2 ton trucks look much more appealing, as the manual is a big selling feature for me, but shouldn't come at extra cost.
I really see Toyota moving towards the Tacoma being a lifestyle truck/status symbol like the new Land Rover Defenders and Mercedes G wagens.
I looking pretty hard at the 2023 FWD Ford Maverick (second year of production), as its base price is 60% that of the Tacoma, and it uses half as much fuel. I'll hold onto my 09 but kinda wish Toyota made a plain Jane truck. The tacoma can be used when I'm sleeping in it and/or for off road trips, but the Maverick would probably fill the bill for 90% of the trips I make.
I'm not here to pan the Tacoma, but Toyota is kinda resting on its laurels; it'd be nice to see some innovation like the Toyota of the late 70's and 80's.

Yes, Toyota rates are always somewhat higher. Sometimes they do have a lower rates but for only 36 or 48 months. However, this time last year they actually offered model year end incentives. It was 1.99% for 72 months on all new Tacoma's (Excluding Pro's I think). This and (Finally) a 10 way adjustable drivers seat was a main motivator for me. I needed a 6' box so that narrowed it down to a TRD Sport. Limited selection tho. Luckily local dealer had just received 5 TRD Sports at the last minute. By the time I called 3 were gone already. had a choice of Black or White. Was not going black. Also, had to pay full MRSP. If I didn't someone else would during the promotion. Still very happy.

I think you all should just come to the dark side, factory front locker, diesel, amazing factory suspension…. Hehehe

but seriously i am watching and waiting to see where things go, i still want the old school manual with a key etc…. But then i get on a trail and think maybe not…

It seems to be the fate of all off-roader vehicles nowadays.

Yup, consumers have no idea how shitty most of the supposed off road vehicles are :-(. I have a friend with a new Defender 90, thing has about 2 inches of wheel travel and no clearance. We went out for a ride and it wasn’t impressive. Really disappointing.
