Anti-seize lubricant on spark plug threads?

My favorite torque spec: tighten until loose, then back off 1/4 turn.

 

And these guys are 1000% right......dont use lock, or anti seize, any lube...
if you dont know what your doing.......

For the thick ones....Pull immediately into a parking lot ..... and wait for rescue, its much too dangerous out there in traffic, sometimes you have to make split second decisions to survive....and sometimes have to BREAK THE LAW to accomplish it....
seriously doubt some of you....

Tap your wrist and repeat 'its gonna be ok'.....

That is an excellent point.....galvanic action between dissimilars usually takes years or decades...
But a catalyst - extreme heat or an electrolyte will speed up the process 1000s.....

Reason scuba divers wash and silicone regrease all their equipment after each day of diving in salt water....
Even the oxygen in the air becomes corrosive at 400 F......

Same with an alkaline battery, can sit in sealed package for long time.....but put it in your remote...
and instantly those two dissimilars start doing their thing, 12mo later the battery is coming apart....

Well...the LBJ on my 03 was still good up to 206k miles. I replaced them as preventative measure but they were still tight as a mosquitos butthole when I took them off.

I would argue at that mileage, they should be changed out regardless.

 

You sure those weren't replaced under recall? Are you the original owner of the truck? Chances are they were indeed high mileage, but not original.

 

I'm not the original owner but before I bought it I asked the original owner if he had ever replaced them knowing that it's a critical item and he said he didn't even know it was a "thing". I had a set of LBJ waiting prior to even getting the truck because I was going to change them out regardless.

 

I could be wrong....but from 2000 and newer....they made a more robust design...
changed from a slip in strut to now you have to change out whole coil tower...
the ball joint may same, but the whole coil bucket system is more rugged....
lucky bastards.....
my strut cartridge's about $30 piece....super simple job,,,
coil tower from rock auto auto $200.... not as simple....

 

My 2003 had the LBJs replaced under recall in 2006 (dealer confirmed by VIN lookup, also have the original service invoice). When I replaced a few weeks ago, they too were tight, with clean, caramel-colored grease and a bright shiny ball beneath the intact boot. They did however start installing rubber LBJ boot protectors in 2001 or so.
