So, I went back to the 263 Marketplace in Warminster to see if I could get some photos in the back of the building; It is far more overgrown and neglected than the front, and I initially aborted that the mission when I went on Monday because there was busted glass everywhere on the one side and I didn't want to risk my tires...

Yesterday at work, I realized the rear of the building could be accessed on either side and immediately went back after work; The other side had a fence with a padlocked gate...

It was lighter out when I was there yesterday than when I was there on Monday, and I realized that the side with the broken glass had a previously unseen fence as well...

 

Taking pictures in front of a a vacant building, and even around some haphazardly placed concrete barricades to gain access to a parking lot, are totally acceptable in my opinion; The building as already been vandalized by graffiti, and if a cop showed up I had a story rehearsed...

"Oh, you're just taking pictures of your zombie apocalypse truck in front of an abandoned building? No harm done; Just be careful and have a good night sir..."


Going through a locked gate, on the other hand, is trespassing and thus illegal; I've only had one unscheduled interaction with law enforcement in over a decade as a hobby photographer, it was not a negative interaction, and I'd like to keep it that way...

 

The local cops in Warrington Township love my truck; Got a nod of approval from a motorcycle cop while leaving the BJ's gas station yesterday evening. I've even confirmed that the Christmas lights are illegal, but the cops look the other way because they think it's so cool!

 

So, this morning I was actually looking for foreclosures and teardowns in my area on Zillow (like that place in Doylestown); I found absolutely no house with an "end of the world post-apocalyptic" vibe that I could take pictures of my truck in front of...

However, there is a long-closed restaurant on 202 just outside of Doylestown Borough that fits the bill perfectly and I am going there after work!

 

A good backstory is the key to success. Make sure you have your's straight before you set out.

 

Well, I'm not actually lying; I'm legitimately looking for good backdrops to take pictures of my Z.O.R.T. truck!

Earlier today, I lost the hand on Jacksonville Road and had to turn around and go back for it...

 

Well, I got it back...

 

Dunno; I can probably put it back together again, but I don't think I can use it on the truck unless I want a repeat performance...

 

Even the backlot at work has a convincing "post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland" vibe to it, especially with my coworker's old Bug parked next to it!
