So some good drama here. Mr. Drew Phillips of bison overland posted a buckstop bumper for sell on a Tacoma parts group on Facebook. Liked the bumper and saw that he was starting a camper business, websites, YouTube etc. So I messaged him and told him I would take the bumper and that I could meet him at the overland expo in ozark, Arkansas This weekend. Paid him a $600 deposit too. I ended up taking a offer on my truck that I couldn’t turn down a few days later, messaged drew and told him. Asked if he could repost it for sell or I’d still follow through with picking the bumper up and just resell it myself. Yesterday I get a text saying that he is having trouble figuring out how he will get it to fit and that he would just refund me the money. I happily agreed because it would save me a trip to Arkansas. Since yesterday I have text him twice with no response and he has since blocked my phone number. I’m to the point where I’m almost going to drive out there. Just thought I’d share this with everyone, I have messaged the admin of the Facebook group, posted on his Facebook page, and on messenger. So stick around for the drama:D

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Hope this works out for the best on both sides. Not everyone responds immediately to texts, especially if he's a 'one-man show.' The block may simply be a case of trying to avoid having his phone blown up resulting in new business getting lost. Doing business in these COVID times is difficult at best. Hopefully his integrity will ultimately shine through.
Integrity adds value, lack of integrity results in bad Karma.

Me too, I hate being in this position. Causing a scene and being confrontational is not my thing. Some simple communication would have gone a long way.

How did you pay for the deposit? Hope it works out for you. Hope it doesn't cost you $600 to find out someone is a POS.

That sucks. Try checking with TW members in Oklahoma about him. Maybe if enough people are on him you might get your money back.

There's a reason everyone is pushing zelle and Venmo, etc and it isn't for the consumer's benefit.

Just by activating zelle on bank accounts people have opened themselves up to money theft from strangers. Read the agreement, you aren't protected. And the low transaction limits? Conveniently lower than the amounts that get treated as real crimes...

guess this should have been the red flag, I’ve done plenty of deals through Venmo with no issues. I’m hoping that he is just “busy” with the whole vendor thing but he’s been active on the social media platforms so I know he’s seen the messages.

If you paid by card or PayPal contact them and get a refund . I would not drive all the way there and escalate it and possibly turn into something worse . Best of luck .

Update: He has been in contact with me only saying he will send payment later. My reply: At this point I feel like you’re just giving me the run around.

Lesson on the week: always use PayPal, always request a invoice. Even if the people seem legit.
