If we had deer like that here I would have went out and got a new compound bow after mine was stolen . Now I wait until November 6th to use the crossbow in NY . Going to Pennsylvania for 5 days starting Halloween day . Crossbow all season . And better possibilities of shooting a bigger buck

Bow Hunter on occasion, use to shoot a few tournaments as a younger man. You know how it is, you get the fever now and then and knock the dust off of the gear. Nothing like freezing your a$$ off in a stand to get it out of your system.

I actually walked down to the bottoms the other day to have a look at my twin-seat stand. I have photos of my youngest son and me sitting in that thing when he was like 8. Now he is in his freshman year at A&M.

I decided I would take it down and retrieve it and the tree ladder while I was there. I claimed up only to find that the tree had grown around it and even with a 3lb. shop hammer it was not budging. LOLMan how time flies.

I remember climbing a tree in my all-steel heavy as crap Amacker climbing stand in the per-dawn darkness back in the 80's when I was in my 30's. I had the thought, "I wonder if I'll still be doing this in my 60's? I wonder IF I WILL BE ABLE to do this in my 60's?" So far, yes. I got in my much lighter API Grand Slam Supreme the other day to go up a couple of magnolias in the front yard to cut their lower limbs. Couldn't get out of bed the next morning, but yes, it can be done in your Medicare years. It's the swinging of the legs up and pulling yourself in that is the hard part. The rest is a piece of cake. Climbing. Not the getting out of bed the next day. Had to roll out onto my knees and pull myself up with my arms. Those trees will need pruning again in 5-10 years. Stay tuned...

 

The girls are out early.

 

I’m 62 and still hang my portables 22-25 feet high, however, I’m becoming more and more partial to hunting out of ground blinds.
