Joying Head Unit - 2nd Gen/JBL - No Audio

I have tried every wiring combination possible on this unit. I've tried turning the amp setting on and off. All I get through the speakers are chirps when I select things on screen, but no audio from any source will play (radio, youtube, bluetooth...I can see the tracks playing). Does anyone have a solution for this? Their email support is useless.

What year is your truck? Did you get the canbus harness?

 

Ok so your getting sound to the speakers based on the fact that you get the chirps from pushing buttons.

There are a few things I can think of that may be causing a issue, while I dont know the menu that they are in, I know they are in there somewhere.

There is a "sound normalization" setting, this adjusts volume of each input source. Check these to make sure they are not muted
There is a "turn off sound while in reverse" setting, try turning this off. Your headunit may be thinking your in reverse all the time so it mutes the volume.
There are also a few sound settings for adjusting volumes in there, but I dont remember the names.

Basically there are like 5 things in the settings that can turn off sound. My best advice is to turn on FM radio, then go through every single setting in every single menu (there are 3 "settings" menus) and check each and every one of them.

 

the problem first and foremost is: "MADE IN CHINA".

Did you figure your issue out?? Curious because I'm looking at replacing my HD and this is one of my choices I've narrowed down to.

 

It looks like it's either the wiring harness or the connector on the back of the head unit. I happened to get some time to deconstruct my truck again and was holding the head unit this time, and the harness at the back of the unit was at the right angle to actually get sound out of the speakers, but it's for sure a loose connection or faulty connector. I'll go another round with their support to see if they'll replace any of it.

 

Any update I’m currently having the same problem from what I can figure I need an additional wiring harness to keep my jbl amp I ordered the pac taco wiring harness from Amazon while I’m waiting to hear from joying

 

you have the JBL in your 2010? i have narrowed my issue to something with the canbus adapter. I have a 2012 non-jbl that i converted to 2013 jbl stereo + 2009 jbl amp/sub back in 2014. When i installed this, i created a new harness that plugged into the oem wiring so i can easily try different combinations. As you can see, the factory connectors in the 1st picture connect to an adapter harness in the 2nd picture. This 24 pin connector is then connected to the joying harness as shown in the 3rd picture.
In this wiring setup the original female speaker plugs are connected to the return from the 2009 year amplifier. AS mentioned in a previous email, this year amplifier does not have a separate tweeter output but has front R/L and rear R/L and sub output. I currently have the joying speaker out connected to the front speakers and the rear speakers connected to the amplifier output (setup 3 below). This allows for the subwoofer to work but I cannot accurately set the audio levels as when all speakers are connected to the amplifier. I think my phone audio issue could be solved by using a canbus adapter from an earlier vehicle (eg prado 2010) which would allow for the correct setup and not utilize the seperate tweeter output for phonecall audio.

To summarize:

Setup 1 (JBL): joying installed using canbus adapter (TY-SS-05) and setup to camry with amp; amp output connected to all speakers
(a) audio levels work, subwoofer works, sound is good
(b) phonecall audio output does not work

Setup 2 (Non-JBL): joying installed using canbus adapter and setup to camry without amp; amp output disconnected; joying output connected to all speakers
(a) audio levels (front/rear) adjustable, subwoofer does not work, sound is not as good as in setup (a)
(b) phonecall audio output works

Setup 3 (Hybrid): joying installed using canbus adapter and setup to camry without amp; amp output connected to rear speakers, joying output connected to front speakers
(a) audio levels (front/rear) not ideal, subwoofer works, sound is not as good as in setup (a)
(b) phonecall audio output works

I would like to try a different canbus adapter, i see TY-SS-01 listed in several similar setups... not sure if this is the correct part or if there is a different one

I’m about to purchase but want to make sure I order correct harness. I have stock 2011 jbl unit. How do you reach them?

is this issue only on the 9 inch?
