There's a lot of truth to this. I have used FluidFilm on my '15 truck since new, and just had the frame inspection/CRC coating done a couple of weeks ago. The areas where they cleaned off the frame as part of that service look brand new. Now to get back under there soon and load it up with FluidFilm again...

I just ordered another gallon of FF that I'm going to pick up tomorrow morning at Advance. Tomorrow is FF day for me. I probably have enough laying around to do my truck, but I load up, so I don't want to run out.

I hate FF date, I truly do. It's SO, SO worth it, but I loathe the days I do it. I actually have some rust on my LCAs where the paint chipped off the welds and the water spray removed the FF, so I'll go do that, but ultimately those unbolt so I'm not nearly as stressed. I'll have to see what I can do with the new boxed blocking plates. There's a hole in the center as well as other areas to get into the box section, I think, but Toyota never sprayed in the box section on me, just the covers, so I'm good.

@jpereira2 does the 360° wand fit in that hole? I've got the 18" one from my FF kit. One of these days I'll swap over to WoolWax, but for now I like my setup.

I need to cut and buff some scratches out of my winter wheels as I'll probably change those over the first week of November or so. Hopefully I've finally cured my wheel addiction and can live what I've got for awhile.

Also, FWIW and I've mentioned this before, I've got an ATEQ Quickset X so I can program OEM TPMS sensors for anyone that needs sensors programmed in if you've done a rotate on a 3G truck and want the placement right, or if you've got snows with TPMS like I do.

I may come to you re TPMS after the winter. I will be swapping to a new set of wheels and will be doing a mix of rotating and a 6 wheel rotation so I'll need to learn how to do that too. I need to get a USB and techstream to recal the airbags so if I can do it in there I'll be good with that too.

I believe my device will capture the sensor ID, so if you get Techstream up and working you won't need to go through me after you have the sensor IDs. The only thing about my device is that it's specified to only work with OEM TPMS, so I don't know if it will read non-OEM (if that's even an issue with you).

I have an ATEQ VT36, which can definitely read the OEM sensors on my 21.
It also cannot reprogram the ATUL MX "universal" sensors (I have tried every setting).

If you need your OEM Sensor ID's read I can help.
If you need some of the other common (not ATUL) sensors cloned, I can help.

If you message me with your year / wheel type I can reply with what aftermarket sensors can be programmed / reprogrammed with this tool.

I have a Schrader EZ Sensor inbound to verify that I can reprogram it with my OEM sensor ID, but it could be a few days before it arrives and I can verify things. They go for $25-$30 in places I've looked.

When Toyota did yours, did they use the white/beige fill type stuff or an actual black liquid? And remind me roughly when yours was done by them..

Nothing. They skipped the spray and just did the plugs since I FF’d everything. I did it 12/2020. I got it in writing that skipping the spray was approved by Toyota and I still got the warranty. In the Owner’s Portal K0D says it’s done.

I would really like to do this to mine. I’m in Nashua on the Tyngsboro line and I’m not sure how far I am to the closest member that does this. I have a compressor but no undercoating gun or even a 360° Wand as mentioned. What is the charge for this? I would even provide a gallon just for the help and leave the rest . I can’t imagine my frame would take a whole gallon or will it? Maybe overthinking?

Youre probably closer to @jpereira2 than you are to me, i use to work on Nashua in that area though. I think Jason was charging $75 for tacomas this season, and no you wont need a whole gallon for a Tacoma, my dads double cab long bed 3rd gen I put over 2 of the quart botles on, but thats all over the frame and the underside of the cab

Definitely do it! I'd pay because it kinda sucks. Both guys that do it in the area are top notch and meticulous. I trust either of them with my truck. The ride out west isn't bad(I'm in n Chelmsford) I'd go to either based on availability.

You can get it in spray cans as well. I still have a fluid film kit (gallon, spray jar and wand) that I got a couple years ago, but never got the compressor. I have also read about some one using a paint sprayer and thought about going that route.

I think there was a YouTube video of a guy using a paint sprayer. He was warming it slightly to keep the viscosity low enough so it wouldn't muck up the sprayer.

You can absolutely use a paint sprayer. But that will not work for the hose/wand

Some big news for my online acquaintances here. I've done probably the only 2 spontaneous things in my entire life in the last month. First being that a few weeks ago I ended up trading in my Tacoma for an Outback Wilderness (the only new car I've ever bought), the second being I just accepted a pro hockey AT job with the Charlotte Checkers, the AHL affiliate of the Panthers. I finish up here at Plymouth State mid-November and tentatively report the 20th in NC. This will be my first time living outside New England and still doesn't really feel real even though it's been a couple weeks in the making.

Thanks Rob! My original plan was to keep it and still get something for my commute but for right now the only thing I truly used my truck for was hauling my kayak. I'll get back in one one day probably but hey from how I've seen things work here on TW, I'm on the right track to becoming a mod, always ditch the tacoma first then you can be in charge! (Says the guy who is fairly inactive on here :notsure:)
