That's a horrible idea. What time?
I'm at the dealership tomorrow, so I may work on the trip report a bit. Or I may go get breakfast. Decisions.

Weekend of 10/30 and 11/5 are my free weekends. I'd be happy with an easy flagpole trip, but might be able to be convinced to drive to AOAA or somewhere

It’s too bad that my schedule isn’t as free as I’d like because I would love to join you on a trip somewhere.

what weekends are you available in the next month or two or three ish?

    No football: 10/30, 11/5, 11/20

after that I'm free-er, no more football on the weekends

In the meantime I can learn how to make something more than cold pizza and poptarts to eat while camping

I already have my October and November trips planned but nothing after that, so we could aim for something in December. Just can’t nail anything down until my wife gets her work schedule. Potts is fun if you think you’ll be ready for that. If not, AOAA or rausch are also a lot of fun and have trails of all difficulty levels.

Gotcha, I'm off school after December 15th until January 18. By then hopefully I'll have the sliders on and some more skid plates made, so I'd be down to try potts and hopefully be protected-ish. I'll go anywhere, don't mind driving a lot when I don't have school obligations.

Consider me on standby... We might be driving up to Springfield MA sometime this weekend or next week (hopefully to get some ray 10's) and could "convoy". Depending on the time of day it takes me though PA near AOAA and Rausch, probably wouldn't do any trail riding with 4 tires in the bed/roof rack on the way back though.

I thought about picking up that wheel/tire set. The bronze Ray 10's are pretty sweet and the Razr tires are supposed to be pretty good too. Good luck!

Looking for applicable theories. When we left for our road trip, we made it about two hours south and noticed a concerning heat build up on the passenger side front seat area. We stopped, looked around a bit, and found nothing. I called Chris, and he graciously told us to come by the shop.

Once there, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Chris looked at the trans fluid, and it seemed normal for the mileage. I noticed the cat converter didn't have a claim shell heat shield like the drivers side, so we thought that was the culprit. Header tape was applied, along with water and rain the next morning. By mid day, somewhere in TN, under the same driving conditions, the heat buildup was gone and all seemed normal. I also talked to Adam, who suggested a manual pump for the trans cooler on the gearbox may not be functioning.

No more issues through the 5300 miles we drove.

Went to order a heat shield for that side, and it is not a clamshell style, but the body mounted deflector which is in place. I'm going to change the fluids after this trip, but I'm curious as to what may have caused this. It doesn't appear to a converter and it's not showing any signs for that.

    Any thoughts (related to this)?

Jacking the general heat inquiry, it may have been happening all the while, but I noticed the cup holder "floor" spots are warm enough to heat up the bottom of the cups/keys (original tip off was both key temp and touching the bottom of the holder), etc.

Nothing else on the center console is warm or hotter than ambient, and it's occuring when the truck is not in direct sunlight or high exterior temperatures. Also appears to be happening with or without AC on/recirculation on or off.

Thanks Tim for the mental nudge to spam you all about this minor "thing." Now to your point of the undiagnosed heat and source, I got no dice. Do you have a scan or ultra guage (or a way to monitor trans or engine temps?)

Sorry guys, i know this has been talked about but scrolling through 400 pages and my ability to use the search feature being piss poor i can’t find what I’m looking for.

In Virginia are we able to have a light bar in a bumper and still past inspection? I’m getting confused with the law when it’s mentioning below the headlights.
