If you look at the trail renderings too they show "trd pro" on the headrests on the Canadian website lol

Just eyed the 2022 Tacoma listings on Toyota's web site. Access cabs start at $44532. I guess I will be looking elsewhere for a vehicle to haul me and my stuff around. Just need a truck, not a fashion statement.

I think the truck I was looking at went up about $1400 from last year, there's still no way I'd look elsewhere at anything else.

My local Ford dealer has a maverick lariat for just over 44k. I think my incoming Tacoma off road premium is worth 6k over that….

truck prices in general are going up. A custom trail boss Silverado with a v8 is 50k now and my Tacoma will hold its value greater in 3-4 years I know for sure.

The base DCLB SR no longer has dual HVAC and it appears a downgrade in the class IV hitch and the tow package (7 pin round and 4 flat pin) is no longer standard. The 2021 SR DCLB was very well equipped. Canadian SRs are very much an upgrade from USA SRs.

No more base AC in Canada. The slow death of the AC continues. First the base 2.7 2wd disappears for 2021, now the base V6 SR AC disappears for 2022.

Just did a build on the toyota.ca site. DCSB off road premium I was looking at went up $590.00 over 21. Time to email the dealer and see what he has to say.

There was a Lunar Rock sport premium at Gateway Toyota last week. Not sure if it has sold yet.

I don't think the Maverick is competitive with the Tacoma, and I think getting the non hybrid/ upscale version defeats the purpose of a fuel efficient comfortable machine that fulfills 90%+ of what most trucks get used for.

Ford Maverick, FWD Hybrid, twice the fuel economy, $31K + tax. Clicks all the boxes for me. I don't want comparable, problem is Toyota don't sell a 2wd 4cyl. extended cab truck in Canada anymore so I'm stuck buying a $50K+ truck with terrible gas mileage and a bunch of features I neither need nor want. I've been a Toyota fan all my life and would like to remain so but I guess I don't fit their target demographic anymore.

Yeah I remember when Toyota was making its reputation in the 80s....you could buy a pretty bare bones truck. They filled a niche for a lot of people. They have certainly left the door open for a competitor to scoop some of their business with an affordable entry level 2wd or reg cab (in canada). Its the SUV mentality these days I guess. Even the access cab will be gone soon...less is more is not the mantra of the 2020s

By the time it comes for me to sell my rare 2019 TRD OR AC MT it will be ultra rare and while the market will be small there could be guys willing to pay extra for a unique truck.:)

With Maverick and Santa Cruz coming to market, you have to wonder if Toyota would introduce a truck smaller/cheaper to compete with those two. They just introduced the Corolla cross or whatever so maybe something based on that thing. I think people would love a small sub 30k base price Toyota mini truck.

I originally wanted a cement or voodoo access cab TRD OR. 2022 Colors for access cab TRD OR and basic double cab TRD OR are not cutting it. I was hoping lunar rock or at least army green would have trickled down to lower trims like cement and voodoo did before.

Now I'll try to get a silver SR5 DCLB. It's a little longer than what I wanted, but it's the best value for my money at this point. It's weird how the biggest possible Tacoma became the most affordable in Canada.

Gotcha, not comparable. I have had many brands of vehicles, go wherever your needs are met.

Good points. All the manufacturers have their flaws and shortcuts (Lexus probably has the least). I'll be going wherever my needs are met. The 2nd gen 4x4 4cyl 5M Tacoma was pretty close to perfect IMO, as is the HiLux diesel Workmate still for sale around the world. I would really like to try one.
One thing I've been thinking about is that the Tacoma could EASILY have 48" between the wheel wells, as they are now built in the US or Mexico, and therefore not hit with the chicken tax.

    This might now be the most affordable actual truck;
    https://www.chevrolet.ca/byo-vc/client/en/CA/chevrolet/colorado/2021/colorado/packages

Can be had for under $500/mth with nothing down all fees and taxes included. That is of course 2021 pricing which will surely go up a little but would still be under $500/mth
