This may seem like a redundant question but I would like a consensus to see and learn. Ive had my tacoma for almost 2 months… first truck ever. How high can I safely pack stuff like this in the bed… image attached. That was from my first camping trip. D5D151CF-A3DD-481D-BC56-2FC6CF9054AB.jpg

I have common sense enough to know if its overpacked it can fly out but for people who use a cargo net, or not, any knowledge you can toss my way is appreciated.

Looks good to me. Other option is get a camper shell or some kind of tonneau cover. I like being able lock all my gear inside and also keep weather off it. I use the heck out of my truck but to me it’s more of an SUV than a truck since I never take off the topper.

A cargo net is perfectly fine. Before I added my tonneau cover I would use a net. You could also throw a tarp over your gear before you put the cargo net on. If you want to feel a little safer then a couple ratchet straps.

I'll get a tarp then use the net to help it stay... Its keep less people from looking around and cherry picking.

As high as u want. As long as it's not spilling out the sides. Just keep in mind the bungee has tons of "give". So it's not that secure in holding stuff down

As long as your load is properly secure, sky is the limit. Ratchet straps are your best friends.

Just secure it. I had a couch a living room chair and 10 dining room chairs in my bed. Should have saw it, looked ridiculous but was all secured with shipping wrap and straps.

:rofl:This is not a properly secured load. If you are holding your load in with tape then you need to stop and rethink your plan.

What is the clearance height of the lowest overpass you need to drive under? Suggest to stay a few inches below that. Secure the load to the truck with ratchet straps. Don't just wrap the strap around the load.

Haha depends on the tape. Ever heard of 100mph tape? You see it used to repair helicopters and aircraft.

No. Just no. That’s not how to tie down a load and you know this.

Tape does not hold anything bud, but thanks for your concern. It’s there just in case. I had 3 ratchet straps going. I know how to secure my load, not the first day at the office.

I’ve never had anything fly out of my bed, ever. Just gotta make sure those ratchet straps are nice and tight.

Be sure to check the landfill requirements.

The landfills in this area will reject any load that is not tarped and secured. I've seen a couple loads get rejected at the Scale entering the landfill. The driver was seriously POd.
