Fair. The idea and fantasy is there. The result may not be what I have in mind though

Supercharger has a new scary whine, and I noticed the nose cone has been leaking. Looks like it needs a rebuild. :/

I ordered some new oil, hoping it fixes it. The last Blackstone Oil test I sent in came back with bearing material found in the oil.

Anyone have experience with Jon Bond?

Why not rebuild it before throwing oil in it? If bearing material was found its not going to magically fix itself.

Head over to the 3.4l supercharger thread, lots of talk in there about rebuild services. Jon Bond, HighSpeedLab, SuperchargersOnline...those are the three I know of. There was another one mentioned in that thread not long ago I hadn't heard of but people were saying good things.

How did the whine change? Is it rattling/knocking loudly at idle?

I built one out of 2x4x3/16" rectangular tubing, and 2x2x1/8" for the swingout.

Ya'll really making me itch for a Coastal rear with side tubes. I have grown to hate the lines of my 4x bumper over the years.

The upwards angle has always driven me nuts. Increased departure angle would be a bonus.

I had it tuned when I was up in Washington on an AEM FIC, it’s getting more boost now. My peak used to be 4.5-5, and now it reaches 6-7 PSI on a 7.5 PSI pulley. There’s this strange whine at idle that changes with engine RPM (different from the SC whine). I noticed the nose cone was leaking, so it could be super low on oil.

Yeah, that’s what I’m starting to realize. It’s got an unknown amount of miles on it. I want to run a 10 PSI pulley, but that definitely can’t be done till I rebuild it.

I’m not sure where the bearing material originated from. It could be the engine or the supercharger. But I guess the SC is the place to start.

You could definitely build one yourself, or even modify your existing bumper. I think rear bumpers are a good place to try out fabricating new ideas because they’re fairly straightforward.

You had the SC oil tested, or the engine oil? If there is bearing material in your engine oil, that is almost certainly not from the SC bearings. It’s pretty common to get accelerated wear on the crank bearing journals with an SC.

It’s a good idea to get it rebuilt before adding a smaller pulley.

Mines was definitely a fun project, lots of welding and grinding but over all I'm very happy with it. I went with the 4x tire swing out instead of the coastal one.

Yes, engine oil. Should I be worried about the accelerated bearing wear on the crank?

Well, there’s nothing you can do about it short of removing the SC, so I wouldn’t spend too much time worrying about it. I get a Blackstone report once a year or so just to track the trend, but I’ve never heard of bearing failure due to wear from the SC.
Change your oil more frequently and send it.

Sounds like a plan. I do 3k service intervals on the engine oil. How often does the SC oil need to be changed?
