All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Yup, I am putting a set of General Grapplers on here shortly. They ride out awesome!

I recently have blasted thru a set of General Grabber x3s on my tundra. They were very soft, but man they did amazing Offroad. On road they were so soft they would wander thru a turn a good bit. I got a new spare, so I will be getting 3 more and keeping the rest as spares. The traction these give is amazing.

Phew - i just checked the weight of these, they are a hefty! But i suppose you've got them on a tundra so no worries as much about the weight compared with the taco.

I was considering STT Pros in the future but i just found another pair of G003s locally in my size for a deal so i'm going to reup with those. Have you ran STT Pros and any comparison to the g003s?

I'm in western WA too so same I can give you some feedback.
The Yokos have been amazing in all offroad conditions i've run them through except for ice (Of course). For the first ~16-19k miles they were actually really good in the PNW Rain (i'm comparing them against my E-Rated Ko2s that i put ~ 20k Miles on). I drove accross i90 in torrential downpour many times and never had any issues with hydroplaning or slipping. I'm now past 16 months on these tires with 22K+ miles and they have had several times now in the fall where they slipped/struggled to get traction in wet weather.

I've got a different daily now and don't take the truck out nearly as much as before so it doesnt matter much to me if the MTs are not the best around town. I think if you dont commute and want to use your truck for offroad then grab the yokos i've really liked them (picking up a new set Sunday)

If you're not making a "pavement princess" why do you care about your 2 mile commute to and from wherever you go, if sacrificing off road traction is such a huge issue? You said it's hard to justify MTs and then you go into saying you're assembling a truck for off roading. Suck it up and buy MTs and sacrifice a little wet traction after 10-15,000km or buy ATs and sacrifice off road traction.

If you aren't driving around town frequently, why is it hard to justify a good mud terrain tire? From what I can tell you're more concerned with looking like a "chunky pavement princess" and being a "metro-neck" whatever the fuck that is than getting a tire to suit your primary needs.

Geez…that seemed a little harsh. I think he is just trying to make a judicious decision.

Let’s be honest, for most people, even those that take their truck off pavement, MTs are not necessary for 95% of what they encounter, an AT would have been fine. Some people live in areas where the percentage might be higher, but I think it is wise to weigh the pros and cons, because there are definitely cons to having MTs.

I will say though, these Yokohamas make it easy to run an MT, I really can’t feel or hear much difference than my previous KO2s.

After reading how short your commute is, I wouldn't steer you away from the Yokos. They're definitely not as good on road as some AT's, but I have no complaints after almost 20K miles. They're really not bad for daily driving, if you have reasonable expectations.

I put a set of Toyo RTs on my FJC. I love them a lot, got a bit of chunk to them, stout sidewall and roll super smooth on the road.
Might be worth a look. Has the ability to clean out like a mud tire, but somehow they got it to roll without noise or bump to it.

I'm definitely glad I got them as it is really the only way to understand what they are and aren't. I'm not sure I'd run MTs forever as an AT is just great all around, but I'm enjoying the Yokohamas. It gives me a lot of perspective for my current and future builds (living in my delusion that there will be multiple builds in my future...Land Cruiser, 4runner, Hybrid Taco...LOL).

Just ordered these as well. But I read somewhere else that they aren't good for snow. Is this true?

I had them in 33s and they did fine in the snow but shitty in slush and ice just like everything else.

Honestly there won’t be any tire that phenomenal in the rain just like ice. When it rains you have all the oils and stuff from cars leaking as well. Essential its just as bad as ice. I live in WA state as well where it rains 250 times a year. I have nitto ridge grappler and i have no complaints except they are expensive. Looking at trying the yokohamas. If you don’t drive that much but do go offroading why not get MT’s. If i had another car I’d be slapping 37s on my tacoma for when i go offroading and the look. But to each is own. Its your truck not anybody else. You modify it how you want is how I always look at it.

Mine are good in fresh, deep snow. But, not good on ice or packed snow. No MT will really be good in those conditions, though.

Called discount tire and they said a few more days on my 35s. Tomorrow I'm going to spend sometime trimming plastic and hammering the pinch weld. Super excited.
