I do mine yearly, but I go HEAVY. I use probably 3/4 a gallon and 1-2 spray cans.

@jpereira2 you won and got me back out today to put the wand along the gas tank and exhaust. Bah.

You just like the rotted bed patina look?

Oh, and at least you now have comfy seat while you want for the tow truck?

Am I doing this playful insulting right? :cookiemonster:

I ended up with the T7. Looking at Bikesonline, the prices seem to have gone up a bit. I went back and forth between the D and T series bikes, XC vs. Trail. The T7 seems to fit my needs pretty well. I also went with the 27.5, medium frame. I'm short so the shorter wheels was a good fit for me and you also gain 10 mm of travel with the 27.5 over the 29's.

Damn right, I'll have the most comfy spot to sit in while I wait for the tow truck!

No rotted bed though, aluminum body FTW! Some of the suspension components patina quickly on the Fords though.

Well that and neither of us seem to hold onto a truck long enough for rust to matter.

My wife is on to me though... We'll see how it does while it's still in warranty. If I have any emissions issues, it'll probably be gone at 100k unless the EPA lightens up and allows deletes again.

The fancy stuff in this one worries me a bit as it ages since I may hold onto this for a while. The new prices are scary. I was in the low 50s for this one after discounts. To replace it with basically the same trim and options with the hybrid powertrain I'd be around 70 and good luck paying less than MSRP. 50 was already a financially irresponsible decision. 70 is just nuts.

Fortunately, my truck doesn't have any of the fancy stuff but it does have an extremely complicated engine and emissions management setup. The base engine and truck would last a very long time if all the Al Gore crap got the F out of the way! On the Ferd forums, it does seem like a lot of the common issues are related to the fancy crap like the tailgate button, sun roof, massage seats, all the cameras and sensors, etc. I don't have any of that, it's as basic of an XLT as you can get.

Getting a factory warranty to cover everything up to 125k/6 Years was only like $1500 last I looked. I'm not normally one to buy warranties, but I'm somewhat inclined to do it and commit to holding onto this truck for that long.

I like the 29r for the added ground clearance and its what my current hard tail is. Im poking around full suspension bikes. I really like the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Comp but trying to look at other options as well

Once a year and I go heavy on every truck I spray. 5 gallons gets me around 16 trucks sprayed. Depending on size of vehicle and if they are crusty and flaking off while I spray them or if they have never been coated.

Eh I hear the Ferds have heated tailgates to keep his bum warm in the cold months..

As I always say, tis easier to ask forgiveness than permission

I've always been a minimalist on vehicles, though I concede some of the extras are unavoidable because of how they package vehicles plus govt mandated crap.

Or my little shitbucket probably used little haha

I'm the opposite - I got spoiled by my LL Bean Outbacks. This truck has just about everything possible on it.

I spend a lot of time driving, though - an hour and a half minimum every day.

I was doing an hour a day before working from home. I did upgrade things like the stereo, but as far as what the vehicle is originally spec'd with I usually go bare bones. In part at least b/c I drove many old cars and it was just more crap to break by the time I would get it

The diesels come with a 100k mile powertrain warranty, that's really all I'm concerned with. Even the 'all inclusive' warranties don't cover a lot of the emissions crap associated with the diesel. At 100k miles, I'm going to have to do some soul searching and decide if I keep it or trade for a gasser. The diesel should still hold its value pretty well at 100k miles, no one's really afraid of that kind of mileage with that powerplant. I'm at 46k now, 100k miles is only about 3 years away...

    Not with the EPA!

I don't like 29 for the same reason though. For me it becomes a trail dozer that just rolls over things instead of riding the terrain. Plus with a BMX background the 27.5s are more compact and easier to wrestle in the air.

I wish 26 was still popular enough for support. In my mind I wish the 26s stuck around. But I see the market driver - 29s are a lot easier to ride because they bulldoze over stuff so it gets more people out.

I work with a guy who has a 29 and is about 5 ft 7. No knocks on height but it's not the right size for him. I'm 5 10 and just barely make sense to use a 29 (and I don't).

I haven't even ridden anything besides 26". My ex left a 29" in my basement and I have yet to try it out. The tires on her bike are less aggressive for a mountain bike though. I do know that next time I look for a bike. I'll try to find a 1x9 (or 10/11) setup. I have a 24 speed, and use only a 3rd of the gears.
