I actually had the Pop-n-lock in hand before I picked up my truck. I have never had an issue with it and it's a great piece of mind.

What I love is that when I go to the store I unlock the truck to open the bed, and while I'm loading my groceries or whatnot the timer will tick down and the rest of the doors will lock. When I shut the tailgate it will also be locked so I know I can walk away to return my cart and the whole truck will be locked and secure.

I traumatized my poor old dog the first time he rode in it with no bed mat. Put up a huge fight whenever I had to get him in the back, even after I put my bed mat in there. Sorry pup.

I didn't buy a rubber mat. Instead I bought one of those foam kits that interlock for covering workshop / workout room floors and then cut it to fit. Works great and if a part gets damaged I can easily replace it. Had the same foam in there for the last 5 years without any issues. Might have to replace my first section this spring.

I frequently travel with several thousand's of dollars of tools in the bed. Before installing the OEM tailgate lock I had to fumble 2 keys around to access the bed, the tailgate key as well as the cap window keys. So no... zero regrets for me.

Honestly, I'm surprised this is even a question. The remote tailgate lock is worth it just for the added security against tailgate theft, so it's hard to imagine anyone not appreciating the addition.

Having installed an AM tailgate lock on a 2019 Tundra, I sure did NOT wish to do another install on our new Tacoma. So, the tailgate lock was the only option we added to the 2021 TRD Pro when we ordered it. Works as advertised, and I'm totally pleased with it.

That would def be more comfy for doggos and if you camp out back there. I bought a used OEM bed mat in perfect condition for 40 bucks? Been great the last 5 years as well.

Don't have it. Thought about it, but I like knowing the tailgate is locked if someone breaks into the truck. I always keep it locked with the little key on the fob. I have a Diamondback cover, so it's going to be more effort on their end to clean me out

I have a shell and hated fumbling with the key to unlock it or not being sure if I locked it with stuff in the back. I installed the power tailgate lock and it was easy-peasy. Should be standard equipment from the factory.

They sell an oem kit about 160ish. Worth it imo, made it easy and didn't have to take out that little key.

Same here. It's very strange. I'm going to mess with the settings again.

What's the verdict? OEM or aftermarket? Do both lock with the passenger door?

OEM is literally plug and play for the electronics part. Not sure if they do or not, but if the aftermarket one's require you to splice into wiring, why would anyone do that? We are talking about $160 bucks give or take for the OEM one, so this is not a huge investment!

Take that back and tell me the OEM one is a PITA to install! I already committed to pay the dealership over $400 for it :annoyed:

Good point actually looks like OEM might be cheaper.

I believe it was the only option that came on my SR, it’s nice to have. I only wish there was a separate button for the tailgate lock vs the the doors.

get the lock it's awesome, definitely one of my favorite mods.

Often i dont need to unlock my tonneau, so the automatic lock gets even more use than I was expecting.

Installing the OEM tailgate lock took me about an hour. Super easy, and I work slowwww.

    A few.
I installed the oem tailgate lock and have no second thoughts about it. When u unlock the truck with the keyfob and just open the tailgate without going in the cab, the door locks will automaticly relock after 1 minute.
