What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I was just wondering, how hard would it be for a determined thief to rip one of those out of the console and run with it?

Pelican Vault V700 went on the Prinsu today. It’s about 40” x 17” x 7”. Mounted as far back as possible for unobstructed moonroof views & to hopefully reduce drag by falling into the dead air pocket created by the wind deflector.

The Vault case seems to be an excellent value @ $150, with larger ones for under $200. Couldn’t justify $400/ea for a Roam case for simple storage. Roam cases don’t store stuff ‘$250 better’ than less expensive options and at $150, I had zero qualms about drilling through the Pelican for mounting. Had I spent $400 on a Roam case, I surely would have spent another $100 for hardware to mount it without drilling holes in it.

Worst case scenario if I need the Pelican completely sealed while detached from truck, I use some button head bolts in place of the carriage bolts and run them through the existing neoprene and metal washers I’m already using to mount to the Prinsu rails, effectively creating a watertight seal.

Another little bonus is that with the Pelican mounted, I now have ‘rack handles’. They’re just on the case rather than the rack. Not that I wanted or needed rack handles. I grab the goddamn rack itself if I need a handle. Rack handles bolted to the rack seem to be a solution looking for a problem.

Just ordered the DSIM Rock light harness and add-on switch harness. Also have the switches on order from CH4X4.

Have sitting in the garage waiting for me to install CaliRaised 32 inch LED bar to be hidden in the bumper. Might have to take an afternoon off of work and do that.

 

Washed, fueled and trip to the farm to spec out new farm generator. Just another Saturday.

 

How hard was the install? Have the same one waiting for me to install.

 

Stuffed some 285/75/16 Toyo Open Country R/T's on the Taco.
Yes, I rub on full stuff and lock, only brushing the plastic. Heat treatment is next.

 

Stock suspension? If so I can probably do this too since I have a 1.5 inch lift up front

Seriously only took 45 minutes. hardest part was screwing in the light bar to the brackets. Very little room and you need to be a bit of a contortionist. I needed my wife to hold the light bar as I fumbled in the dark trying to find the screw hole (I am SURE there is a joke in there somewhere and I'd be completely disappointed if y'all didn't take the opportunity to use it). Wiring was a breeze. Just put a little slit in the firewall grommet and feed the wires almost directly into the switch panel.

 

Installed Deaver U402 Stage 3. Still waiting on backordered Kings to mate up to JBAs up front.

i tried using those same tie downs on my rack and they are complete turds. They bend at the base plate when trying to ratchet anything down. Essentially they’re worthless and complete chinese Amazon junk.

 

how much lift did you get in back? I’m adding stage 2s (up to 600 lbs) next week because I’m sagging.

 

Why? Are oem connectors prone to failings?

 

Trussed the rear axle, still need to truss around the u-bolts and to the ends of the axle but ran outta welding gas.

 

I wish we measured the W-shaped oem w/ AAL but they couldn’t get removed fast enough. I’m up to 40.5 on 285/75/16.
