I think some of that buying pressure was firms buying the stock to sell the calls. If the gamma's are high that is one way to tell how many of the open contracts are covered at given price points.

Wash trades don't mean shit. You can get 10000 of those "warnings" a year. All it means is you can't use any losses on the washed trade to offset capital gains. Other then that there is no penalty.
