IS IT A LIE OR TRUTH?

My buddy had an old stock junker 4.0 Cherokee we used to take that thing through everything couldn’t kill it if we tried. His last 5 vehicles were also a Tacoma though. I’ll stick with what I got.

 

I really like the new Bronco there is one I see locally on 37"s looks awesome! But with that being said they are already having steering rack failures so time will tell how well they really hold up. I used to be a big Ford guy but their quality has just gone down hill in the last few years.....

 

I've never been a huge fan of Ford but have owned a couple of their trucks. I welcome new products from any manufacturer. Competition never hurts. I haven't heard of any glaring weakness in the new Bronco. But what you mentioned; is it really a quality issue or something new that hasn't been proven? All the hype leading up to this new Bronco and I thought it looked like they were putting it through the wringer. All for the one percent who will actually try n off road it.

 

What are people doing who experience rack failures? I'd imagine they a pushing them hard offroad on heavy wheel and tire combos.

Ford does market the Bronco that way, and I think that's what people will want to do with them.

No Doubt this guy pushed it hard but what he says about the stock rack isn't exactly great... Also look at the reliability of Fords ecoboost motors and they are less than stellar...

I know Tacos have rack issues on larger tires but I don't think Toyota ever intended people putting 35's and bigger on these little trucks but Ford has marketed the Bronco as a major off-road player.

Jeep advertises their stuff is for off road, yet voids warranties if you take it off road and get it a little wet.

I do love the Jeep Wrangler. But it is definitely not as reliable as my Tacoma, nor as stable on road. Just got done with two weeks in Maui with a JL and had a blast but was very happy to be back in my Taco.

 

Not entirely true though. May be different from dealer to dealer. Friend and I wheeled his 2016 Rubicon (less than 600 miles on it) at a JJ, he knocked it out of alignment and another time ripped the driver rear shock off and they warranted it. May have charged for alignment.

 

I know a category where Jeeps are better.

Wrangler and Gladiator can fit 35s stock. Tacoma is what 32" before mods are needed? Clearly jeep wins.

 

I am Sure the Michael Cox over at the Bronco Factory will whip up a killer replacement rack. Just wish ford would put a Coyote motor in this as an option then I would consider buying one....

Looks like they drove it up the side of a rock, and only added a lift kit and mud tires. Nothing from the factory on the suspension looks that strong to begin with.

I don't think that would stop me from buying a Bronco if I really wanted to get one. The current mark up and supply issues would stop me from buying one before anything else.

Last time I drove a 3.5 eb it spooled up nicely for a truck, but I can only compare that to a 2.3 and 2.7 eb. I wouldn't expect such a power plant to be as reliable as a 2.7, 4.0, or even a 3.5 Toyota engine.

I saw a new Ranger and a 3rd gen parked side by side the other day. I like the styling of the Tacoma, over the Ranger and it does have more of a wow factor going for it. I think the Ranger looked a little more truck like given the stance, and the truck looked a little larger overall. The cab seemed marginally larger, head lights looked a little larger, and the front bumper copleted that overall truck look. TRD sport, compared to a Ranger XL FX4, both 4dr short bed.

 

Awesome those things were built pretty solid from what I recall. Does the top come off of yours? I remember wheeling in one in Arizona years ago had a removable top.

 

Well in a Jeep forum I doubt they would objectively discuss it like this. So at least Tacoma drivers seem to be a bit ahead in the mental horsepower department, and dont have their heads in the sand.

Also its all opinion and everyone knows opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one but no one wants to listen to others. But I guess the internet would be pretty empty without all the butt holes going off.
