Im planning on getting a 2” lift on the front of my tacoma. i got some advice to get this lift kit
    https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyota-tacoma/2016-and-up/shocks-2016-and-up/0-2-front-lift-bilstein-5100-shocks-2016-toyota-tacoma/
    With a price of 258

and i been seeing a lot of people getting the “OEM lift kit”
    https://www.extremeterrain.com/eibach-protruck-lift-system-stage-1-1619-tacoma.html?T5_Var4=TT1130&dialogtech=ppc&T5_Var2=shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItcCG443i8wIV2B-tBh1RyQrAEAQYASABEgKiL_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
    with a price of 655

why does the “OEM LIFT KIT” come with a spring and the other one doesn’t?

Is the spring better than the one that comes stock?

why such a price difference? Is it cuz of the spring? Or because its just generally better product than the bilstein?

i wont take my truck on crazy rides like rock climbing and up/down hill roads. I will use it 95% road and 5% easy/mild dirt trails. Nothing crazy.

sorry i ask to many questions guys, i just like to be sure of whats the best lift for me and also idk know much of this things and i would like to learn. Thanks guys

For the first one, it was made so you can use the oem springs. Of course you can always get different springs to go with it, for about 200. The kit you linked also shows only the front struts. The second kit you linked, the Eibach, are front and tears and the biggest reason for the price difference. You might still need something else for the Eibach kit for the rear spring, like an add a leaf.

So for the Eibach, the ones with the springs are for the rear, and the ones without the springs are for the front ones?

The coil springs will be on the front with the struts. The shocks without coil springs go on the back. If you’re planning on lifting the back to go along with the front, you’ll need something in addition to the shocks. The make blocks and add a leafs for that.

Why are you calling the Eibach lift an “OEM kit”?

The OEM lift kit is a 2”/1” lift sold by Toyota dealerships and it comes with Bilstein 5100 shocks that are branded with TRD stickers on them.

I get what you’re mean. So if i do go with the beilstein, ill get a two inch lift in the front and ill be short an inch in the back right? And if i want it to be even then o should get a lift for back and front plus a leaf of 1 inch in the back so it can be even. Am i right?

5100's compress the factory spring to gain ride height. So this translates into a firmer ride.

The Eibach kit has a coil designed for the lift so it has better travel and better load characteristics.

There's 100% nothing wrong with the 5100 lift kit. But if you are sensitive to comfort I'd spend a bit more and get a coil designed for 2" lift like the eibach.

I’m guessing you might be getting the Toyota OEM lift confused with OME lifts (Old Man Emu).

Right but the 5100s can be set before they are installed as well and give up to 2” lift. If I remember right, going 2” in the front would even you out with the back but I’ve not really looked into it.

FWIW, I am not recommending the OEM kit, I think it’s overpriced and can be done with the same components or better for a lot less $$ than buying a lift from the dealer.

Best bang for buck would be this:

Bilstein 5100 shocks (front and rear): OME (Old Man Emu) front coil springs: Rear 1.5” lift AAL (Add-A-Leaf): The amount of front lift you go with depends on which OME front coil you choose, but this setup works best in my opinion at 2” of front lift and 1.5” of rear lift. The amount of weight you plan on adding will also help you choose the OME coil to go with, I listed a random one but some are rated for little to no added weight while others are rated for tons of extra weight caused by bumpers, winches, skid plates, etc.

I just went to go measure the gap and there’s only an inch difference between the front and rear. So the front has a five inch gap and the back has a 6 inch gap. And while i was doing that i heard this noise coming from the rear of my truck. It was a buzzing sound. I have no idea as to what it is or where its coming from. I turned on the car and turned it off right away and it stopped. Any idea what it could be?

Thats the fuel pump/evac and normal. The other lift question I’m not too sure, I thought it’s 3” front and 2” rear to level the trucks.

The Bilstien kit, as much as it is tuned for the Tacoma is a generic strut designed to work with most springs, including stock springs. The Eibach strut is tuned for the Tacoma and the spring. It is more of a matched set.

It maybe a minor thing that means nothing in the long run but for me, this swayed my decision for a lift towards the Eibach. Ultimately the Pro Truck 2.0 kit because it is a bolt in kit and doesn't need any assembly to work.

The Bilstein set up was also on my radar but the assembled kit won out.

I don't have any reviews or impressions of the ride yet. I only just got the kit. It will be going in the truck in the spring.
