:rofl:I get that not everyone enjoys the flavor or punishment of the 2x.

Shin is the basic soupy ramen we keep on hand and I agree that the spice level is perfect for everyday. I am a glutton for punishment though so the Buldak is my ultimate favorite. Their 2x, the carbonara and the jjajang are my favorite flavors.

We keep a LOT of noodles on hand :anonymous:

Yea my co-worker gave me a pack to try, with no warning at all. Made them to exact on the packet. First bite was an ungodly flavor explosion that quickly went to "OH WHAT THE FUCK!?" but the on-point flavor drew me back for another bite. I finished all of it, but holy shit. Then the proceeding visit to the porcelain chair later was a bit miserable.

Same co-worker has turned me on to all the different noodles. She's a vegan so it's a lot of her diet. I never knew of all the varieties. Some think it's a little Odd I add the kimchi to the boiling water/spice mix before hand instead of afterwards. I kind of like the tangy flavor it adds to the overall soup.

I would never give someone a 2x without warning lol.

I can do the dried kimchi packet mixed in sometimes but I usually toss it. I don't care for traditional kimchi but I'll eat the cucumber kind :notsure:

We drive to Washington for Asian groceries :anonymous:

    Which reminds me...

    Story Time With Gritto :)

One of the first major disagreements between myself and the Lovely, Sainted and Formidable Mrs Gritto occurred soon after moving into this house.

I said to my new bride:
"These oak trees gotta go, they're way too close to the house".
Her: "Absolutely not! I love them".
Me: "You won't love them when one comes down on the house in a thunderstorm".

Eventually, I got my way.
Cheap bastard that I am, I got some tree climbing spikes so I could top them first.
There were 15 mature Red Oaks withing falling distance of the house, so it was a tricky problem.
(I shudder to think what it would have cost to have professional tree guys do it).

There was one particularly difficult one that was leaning towards the house.
I climbed it, attached a rope high up, and had my Dad hook it to his truck for a pull in a safe direction.
I start the felling cuts below the rope and motion my Dad to start putting tension on it.
You know what's next, don't you?

    He guns it.
I'm waving and shouting No No No!!!
The top moves to the balance point and the rope snaps.
The top seemed to hang there upright for an eternity, then fell away in the planned direction.
    But wait, there's more...:p

The top crashes to the ground and the tree oscillates back and forth with me hanging on for dear life.
I climb back down and Mrs Gritto (who witnessed the whole thing) says to me:
"Have you had enough excitement for one day?"
    Me: [grumbles]

I called the local sawmill guy and he told me to cut them into bolts 10 or so feet long and he'd come buy them
As I recall, he gave me $600 bucks, which wasn't bad...back then.
I didn't get to keep a dime of that dough :annoyed:

    Epilogue:

A few years later, one of the oaks I hadn't taken down crashed to the ground during a Summer thunderstorm.
It clipped the corner of the carport and took down the rain gutter.
Me to Mrs Gritto: "Was I right or was I right?"
    Her: [shrugs]

I bought an Alaskan Sawmill attachment for my chainsaw and cut that tree into planks.
I stacked the planks (with lath between the layers) in my shop, and sealed the ends.
A few years later I planed them, cut them to size, and cut tongues and grooves in them on my table saw.
That Red Oak is now the wainscot in the Master Bedroom. :humble:

Note: It was way too much work, but hey...I was ambitious once upon a time.
