    I will assume nothing.

Will 3" of clearance make your off road experience that big of a game changer? Or will you just wish you had 37" or 39" or 42"? When will it end?

It will end when you realize that your Taco isn't a rock bouncer.

Or you should have bought a Jeep.

Yes. Anybody who's ever crossed a stream or driven offroad on anything more difficult than a fire road will tell you that.

Jeep’s are fun to drive. Look at the depreciation value of a Jeep Vs. a Tacoma. Tell me how a jeep can outrank a Taco ?

Oh, and DCLB. That's your problem right there. You set yourself up for failure right out of the box. Lemme guess you chose the long bed because you didn't think a short bed could haul 4'x8' sheets of plywood, right?

I bought a 2012 Patriot, Latitude Trim, Manual Transmission -
Got bitchin decent gas mileage and fulfilled it's duties over 9 years.
Only had like 50,000 miles on it and sold it just before the used-car-crazy scene happened got $7,800 for it
which I thought was decent given I only paid like $19k for it and had it for 9 years so it cost me about $100
    a month to drive.

It was a dog tho, and couldn't pull anything, and if loaded with 4 adults you had to wind her up pretty good to
pull a decent incline. No major issues tho, and since it was a Manual nobody could 'borrow' it...

You're the one gatekeeping vehicle modifications because apparently everybody should be perfectly fine with and every trail is drivable with a stock truck. All it tells the rest of us is you don't spend any time offroad.

    Does it?

Saying you need 35" tires on an otherwise stuck truck to make it up a hypothetical trail, is like saying you need more HP and rear disk brakes to accomplish the same trail.

Oh ffs…now we’re arguing that larger tires don’t provide advantages in certain off road situations?

Tires larger than stock net you numerous advantages. One of those has been covered….increased ground clearance.

Bigger tires also improve all of your angles: approach, departure and break over. They also allow for more sidewall and gain you more flex when airing down.

If you take a knife to a gun fight, you really need to be able to use that knife. Otherwise just bring a gun next time.

Not really my argument here, but I say there is more to it than just clearance. The taller and wider a tire is, the more it will float over soft surfaces. It can also improve traction by having more rubber on the ground.

These are some things I considered when I decided to increase my tire size. And, aesthetics, of course. :D The small amount of clearance gained is only a part of it.

What am I talking about? The actual need for a bigger tire on a stock truck, picking better lines, or have the right vehicle for the job?

Interested in seeing your truck on one of your trails that you feel 3" of extra clearance is going to make or break your ability to make it or not.
