That makes two of us. I was set on an aggressive hardtail, until I saw the Spire.

Definitely a short-list bike. But my 21 Evil Wrecker is the first bike I just can't being myself to sell off. I usually flip bikes (at least frames) yearly, and that Spire really is a super interesting bike that I know I'd get along really well with, but every single ride out on the Evil just reminds me that it's so freakin' good.

That new Orbea Rallon really caught my eye too. Kinda flying under the radar, but it's a really well built and thought-out bike. Loving the idea of the optional full 29er or mx option right out of the box.

I have a semi-hard....................... tail on the way. Missed having the Chameleon and needed something to fill the void of a gravel bike/hardtail. So I have a Sherpa on the way.

Does anybody want some newish brakes? Owned by the Isak Levisson lol (This guy: https://www.instagram.com/isakleivsson/?hl=en)

Sram Guide R. $175 shipped to you. These were lightly used takeoffs - primarily used on a slopestyle bike so light usage anyways

    Front = 31" hose, rear = 60" hose.

I've been super happy with my Rallon. Kinda like your evil, I keep thinking maybe I'll swap it for something else but then I can't get myself to sell it.

@scottedb commencal actually caught my eye. That's a great looking bike and I've always been curious about them.

That wrecker looks good too. I just can't throw my leg over one. The MX version of the Orbea Rallon got really high reviews from the Vital MTB crew. The Spire is a very balanced bike and I have had a chance to do a parking lot ride of it.

It doesn't look like they changed much about the geometry and frame with the new Rallon. It mostly looks like some gimmicky (but cool) things like the mullet option, built in storage, and built in tools.

I've been on the prior Rallon since 2018 and it's really an amazing bike. It's got enduro travel and geo numbers but it pedals really really well and is a bit more playful due to relatively short reach and wheelbase.

Went on a great ride yesterday in the Jemez Mountains. 58 miles with 5200’ elevation climb total. I’d say 45 miles of gravel and some beautiful scenery and landscape change.

My wife and I spent 5 days in Sedona and Phoenix; she took a weekend skills clinic put on by Ladies AllRide while I played around on trails near the class site (Baldwin, Templeton, etc) and then we rode one day in West Sedona (Mescal, Aerie, Chuckwagon etc) and one day outside Phoenix (Slate and Quartz and Claymine at Cave Creek). I don’t like big rocks but the generally rocky trails were a fun change from our loamy Santa Cruz stuff … which is now mud. 2” rain just today in town, more in the mountains and I guess it rained a lot while we enjoyed arid AZ.

Input needed - winter is fast approaching in New England and my days of riding clean trails are starting to wind down. Once the snow hits around me, the trails may not be snow free until March (depending on typical temperatures). I have been eyeing a fatbike and am getting close to pulling the trigger - however there is a lot of conflicting information on snow riding enjoyment. For those of you with a fatbike, are hill climbs in a 4-6 inches of snow unbearable? My big concern is buying a bike, using it a couple of times and instead settling into the trainer for the winter to stay warm and get some decent miles in. If hill climbs in ice and snow turn into a hike a bike marathon, or if the majority of the ride is slogging through damp snow and muck, getting my monies enjoyment may prove to be challenging.

We have one trail network that gets groomed so I could end up over there, but there is a steep entry point for a fatbike on the hopes it rides decent in snow and mud. If I pass on the fatbike, I am getting a gravel bike in the spring to satiate the N+1.

This equation may also be re-written as s – 1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

^^ I google N+1, because I knew what it meant, but not where it came from. I like this one above too.

Of course, that works both ways. My wife has more bikes than me. Well, pedal bikes. She does question why I have two motorcycles, as I put in more miles on my MTB now than on those, but after almost 50 years of riding it’s hard to give up. And now that we bought a van she’s also questioning why I want to keep the Taco.

the idea of a fat bike is cool and fun, being out in the snow when not many other people are, getting the trails to yourself, etc. it really depends on how you like to ride. fat bikes are obviously going to be slower and cranking through 4-6 inches of snow takes a lot more work than you would think. if you're in no rush and comfortable in the cold, then a fat bike may be fun to you.

im personally against it. ive rented a few and demod a few. not my cup of tea. id rather wait for a clear day and take my mountain bike out. or do greenways for exercise. sounds like you already have a trainer and id rather ride my trainer for a concentrated workout than try to put miles on a fatty.

if you're super set on the idea, maybe get a 27.5+ that works with 29er too? there might be some plus tires with studs that would make snow riding a bit easier. (plus to me is up to 3 inches. a fatty is like 4-5 inches)

Would love to own a van, not sure I'd own the taco if I owned one though. I've saw where people use the van as a garage and buy a small camper.

Then I've saw where the van is the RV and they buy a utility trailer for the garage.
