My 1st gen Tacoma was an AC, 2nd gen an AC, wife's 2019 is an AC, as is my 2020. I do not haul passengers, do not need the DC.

Whether I buy another, in any configuration, remains unknown at this time.

I'm not sure it's an even give or take. I seem to remember something like 13" of bed for 8" of leg room.

Have you ever noticed nobody makes a motorcycle that can seat more than two people?

    Like, so many.
This mindset ALWAYS cracks me up. Of course you can use a 5 foot bed can be used as a real truck.

    double cabs are Very Popular

there have been other body types over the years

Xtra cabs & Access cabs have their followings................wish i had pop out windows iv seen on some

wasnt particularly happy with swing out doors.................gotten used to them

cant give up mi 6foot bed

toyota has hit the mark over the years.................something for everyone

doubles seem to be ‘ just in case ‘...........

i see more dogs/pets ridin in double cabs than children

    more access cabs for jobbers

I guess my main concern is getting an OR build in the Access Cab. I actually use the OR's locker every now and then. I've never used Crawl Control though. I use the jump seats in a pinch, but the back seat area usually has a plywood platform. Just need the 6-foot bed for camping, rafting, kayaking, firewood, skiing stuff...

I bought my DC SB 4x4 for: 1: The rear-seats- folded, protected flat-floor storage space in the back. 2: It fits in my garage and I don't need a six foot bed. At this point I'm a "garden supplies, cement bags, crushed stone, snowblower to the dealer for service, pick out a Christmas tree and bring it home, commute on snowy roads" truck owner. 3. Dog crate fits in the back with the seats folded for the family lab to take swimming, training and just for fun and travel along the northern Maine paper company lands. 4: (very distant 4th place at that) Room for the occasional passenger. Other than that, the rear seat stays folded 90% of the time.

lots of shit that doesn’t fit. Not an issue in Alabama but I laugh at all the DCSBs with an empty bed and loaded roof rack on the way up to the ski hill every weekend because skis don’t fit in the bed.

think what you want but plain and simple you can fit 17% less shit with 17% less bed and 6 ft is already pretty short. My point is it would be dumb for Toyota to ONLY offer a 5ft bed. Plenty of folks still want a longer bed without a DCLB

Re: 5 ft bed for hauling : I have to respectfully disagree: The GVWR and payload ratings are very close across all the configs on the 2nd Gen spec chart: generally within 100 lbs or so. The 6' bed of course has more -volume-, but doesn't boost the above capacity ratings. I forget which one(s), but some have the 140.6" wheelbase: Good for improved ride and towing quality: Never a bad thing to have in a vehicle.

If you want a MT Pro or OR then that configuration is your only option.

REALLY? Driving people around is a thing? So no shit, you really have a reoccurring problem with people repeatedly asking you to drive them somewhere, but having a jump seat in the back solves all of that for you, at the expense of the added utility of a full back seat? This:

Just say: "My insurance company doesn't cover it..." : "M-I-L off roading with us".... "Dog/kids in the back...". "Dangerous high center of gravity in the 4x4...". High cross winds... It always, works: no one ever argues with you: especially the "high center of gravity" nonsense. Nobody understands that. If nothing else works, just go with: "The dog just ralphed in the back yesterday.. ". Never fails to discourage and convince people to pile into the $65,000 Denali. And Sam K. died WAY too young.. Just sayin'. RIP Sam and John B. too.

This would be fine with me, though I'm hoping to hell I ain't truck shopping for another 10 years or so. I snapped up my 2010 regular cab 3 years old and had it 9 years now. I don't even need the access cab and if I could only get the Tacoma in a double cab, I'd have to give serious thought to looking at something else.
