Look into “fluid film” for treating your Tundra. It’ll help prolong the life of your frame, and your chassis.

Now is a good time to upgrade to stainless steel brake lines. 1st Gen Tundra brakes are actually interchangeable with these trucks. I have the 13WL calipers on my 1998, stops the truck much better.

    Wow...more rust-free pics.

Yes...Fluidfilm every year works pretty well here. But, starting the program when the truck is rust-free and doing it every year are both required if you want the most out of those wax/oil treatments.

They not only use salt here...but, some liquid-brine-kind-of-shit which is even worse than salt.

The standard approach around here is copper nickel brake lines. I plan to do that.

"2000" was the supposed last year for locking hubs however, I have seen atleast 3, "2001" tacoma's with manual locking hubs on CL and FB market place.
Also, ive seen several hub parts for "2001".

RockAuto also lists those hubs out to 2001.

On the other hand, dudes do convert ADD-trucks over to manual...and, that is, maybe, what you saw on CL and FB.

I suspect they were holdovers. I talked to 2 guys on fb marketplace who verified by VIN that the were "2001". The 3rd guy didnt verify by VIN, but said he bought it new in oct "2021".

I was researching for my prerunner conversion and was looking for low miles/late model year parts.
Decided to have a guy on these forums custom build a set of OEM spindles, hubs, lockouts instead.

I suppose anything is possible. Toyota probably just used up the manual hubs/dials for "2000" and had extra sets for "2001".

Also, those 3 were local to me within a 50 mile radius so surely they're are more out there.

    Cool.

I had a couple IH light trucks from the 60's. International was kind of well known for left-over, or random, stuff going into their trucks. I had a Travelall which was 100% 1968...but, was titled as a 1969 (which had a totally different body than the '68). I was told that dealers could get a new-year VIN for trucks sitting on their lots...I don't know if that was true...but, I think VINs might have been looser then than they are today.
