I’ve never had one of my references tell me they’ve been called before.

but I also haven’t really applied for a really adultish job other than internships :notsure:

Yeah it’s really dependent on the company, not all of them call, but a lot ask for them.

My old supervisor put me down as a reference, got a call from the a hiring agency asking me a bunch of questions about him. Was kind of awkward lol. He was cool though and I gave him good recommdenations.

yeah when you get into career-type gigs, they most definitely do call up your previous employers and references.

Jokes on them, they are my previous employer and all my references work at the same place

My wife had a general manager for a couple years that turned out to be stealing from her, she fired her and somehow the girl was still able to get unemployment off it (long story). Fast forward a year or two, and this girl applies for a GM position at another franchise under the same company - the owners call my wife asking about her and needless to say, she did not get hired.

Interesting thing my wife told me about - as an employer, even if an employee is doing something like stealing from you, you cannot outright tell another employer "do not hire them" "they will steal from you" etc. You can get sued for that. You have to 'imply' that they are not a good candidate. I thought that was crazy but such is the way of life I guess.

    4 run, 2 don't
Only time I was ever called was from a hospital for one of our receptionists.

We had a shit ton of dumb ones, but the one I vouched for was really the only one worth her weight.

She'd actually ask a follow-up question or two with whoever called to ensure it went to the right person/department. The other girls just right away transferred calls like a MF'er and would even call my extension if I took a bit long picking up a call; mother fucker how can I pick up both line 715 and 716 if you just told me to get 717?

God forbid they ever had to take a message.

Yeah they’re really limited on what they can ask and what you can tell. It’s usually just verifying things they have been told by the candidate, not ‘how do you feel about this person’

I thought it was pretty ballsy of her to put my wife's franchise as past experience when she knew she got canned for what she did - did she think she would just forget or something lol.

finally went and got a regular doc checkup last week, first time I've been to a doctor in almost 4 years.

Gotta get bloodwork done and the only appointment available that wasn't next month, was at 1:45pm today. Can't eat for 10 hours before. I'm fucking hungry already.

Last time I went I was able to read all the blood work results via my Renown app. Didn't have to wait for the Dr. to call me. So that was cool, not that I could understand any of it.

Hm I'll have to see if I can do that, the doc told me "we'll only reach out if something of concern shows up on the results". So hopefully I don't hear from the doctor in the next few days.
