That little chip isn’t going to make the tire lose the bead or anything. Like others said, dab a little paint on it, mount it and forget it. I’d ask for a partial refund, maybe $50 or so?, and don’t do biz with them again if they won’t do anything for you.

I wouldn't be overly worried about corrosion. Especially if you paint it before hand.

If it were me it would definitely bother me just knowing it is there but I don't think anyone will notice without you pointing it out. Like you said, returns are a pain where you are at and there's a chance they mess up the next one as well. The real question is, is it going to be worth the return hassle and wait to you? The damage appears cosmetic to me. A little touch-up paint would keep the eye from drawing to it.

On the bright side you can follow the tire as it is rotated to see if they're actually doing proper rotations. Unless you're doing those yourself, of course.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
lightly sand any rough edges and hit it with touch up paint and call it a day. Have BAM refund you something for your troubles.

You didn't pay for rims that were damaged in transit.
    You paid for undamaged rims.
Go after the supplier. They contracted the carrier that delivered your wheels not you.
They will file a claim against that carrier and should be sending you replacements.
They should also be picking up the tab for having the damaged rims returned.
Raise a big stink if nobody is listening.
Hell you maybe able to get some of these guys on this website to start complaining to the supplier about this mess.
Companies don't want a bad rap.
I had a bed lid installed a few years back that fell off because it wasn't installed properly. The installer refused to pay for the damage. They also advertised in a national performance magazine.
I sent pictures to that publication and with in a few days my truck was being fixed. The publication confronted them. That company eventually closed shop.
Be a jerk if you have to but hopefully you wont have too. Good luck.

It's only cosmetic. Ask for some $$$ since you paid for perfect rims.
I've seen the roads in Alaska. In a year the other three will match it.

OP lives in Bumfuck, Alaska and he himself acknowledges that it's a major pain to ship stuff to and from such a remote location. If the wheel had significant damage or was unsafe to use then that would be one thing. But this is minor cosmetic damage and can easily be concealed with a little touch up paint. If you lived just about anywhere in the lower 48, it would be a different conversation.

But given your chosen remote location up in Alaska, I would think you would have to learn to live with minor shit like this from time to time. Not ideal at all but again that is your chosen reality brother! Touch it up, then drive and enjoy. No one will ever know but you!

As other's have stated, I'd dab a little touch-up paint on it and you should be ok. I'd advise against applying JB Weld or sanding as been suggested as that's just going to turn a small hardly noticeable defect into a more noticeable one.
I would send company photos of damaged wheel and damaged box if there was damage to box and ask for compensation. I'm pretty sure they would rather send you a little money back as opposed to resending a new wheel to AK.

I'm pretty OCD about stuff like that. I don't off road and actually, my truck is pretty much a road queen. Funny thing, I only obsess with my trucks, never my cars....that nick would drive me nuts....but not sure I'd spend the time, money and energy to send it back.....as others have said....drive and enjoy..! However, if I have scratches and dings on my vehicles, I want them to come from me...not others.

I like to support the guy down the street vs the big national tire shops…

and he gives me KO2’s at cost so I can stand a little ding or scratch for the savings I get.

I kept the rim and got 60 dollars back. Roughly 30% 9ff the rim. Plus u don't have to hasle for returns and wait another month for a rim to get in stock. I'm happy I stuck with it as I got two more dings during the install bit there really no noticeable unless you look.

you have a 3rd gen worth a couple pesos.
I have a 2nd gen that’s not nearly as nice, scratched wheels aren’t my primary concerns.
Have you seen what salt does to exhaust pipes?

Congrats on getting some bucks back op!
Probably the best possible outcome given your situation!

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
I'm not sure how many aluminum welders you have in Alaska, but I suspect repairing it locally might cost you less than the return shipping.

Well done OP! Given your unique situation; this was the smart move. BTW, they look great on your ride. Now get out there and really start beating the shit out of those rims! Alaska is a tough place to be a wheel! :)

Yeah, I was thinking he might just be able to pay to get them fixed locally, then ask the seller for a bit of compensation. But if the wheels were hard to get, then I'm guessing that there might not be any local options for repair.

But it would definitely be less stress than waiting another X months to have another wheel shipped, and then find out that one got dinged worse in shipping.
