CIA, What should I get? An Airaid or TRD or none as I'm sure many will say.

I'm a recent Taco convert. I've owned GM pickups my entire life. Just bought my Tacoma last week. I had always put Airaid intakes on my trucks, most recently on my 07 GMC Sierra and I loved the throaty noise and slight growl it always gave it and without ever dyno testing it I will say personally it just seemed to feel like it ran better with a quicker response. Never gave me any check engine lights or issues of the sort. That 07 was the newest model truck I had ever put one in. Now from reading plenty on here before I'm sure many will say skip it due to very little to no gains on a dyno but I purely love it for the sound and response it gave me. Granted these were on significantly larger V8 engines. So if I pull this trigger, again I'm wondering do I go with the Airaid as usual or this TRD one I've been reading up on? I know the computers and electronics have come a long way since my 07 Sierra and the TRD states it's specifically designed to work with Toyotas air flow management system, i.e. I'm hoping that means no dash lights or screwing up performance. Not sure if the Airaid would work great, without dash lights or performance loss, as they always have on my previous GMs but I'm looking for some insight and advice here from anyone that's got anything useful to add that will help me here. Again, don't mind if all I'm mostly getting is a much better sound. Thanks in advance!

I put in the TRD intake fairly recently. I never noticed any change in sound

I second this. I have the TRD cold air intake on my Tacoma and as far as I can tell, there’s no difference from the stock CAI. Maybe a very small improvement in MPGs but I can’t verify that.

That being said, I expected that and honestly got it because I love the look when the hood is popped.

If I did a CAI again, I would go with an aFe Power intake because a lot of big tuning companies use them, like Hennessy Tuning

I did the HPS intake tube, TRD filter, and accelerator. About half the price of the full TRD intake and should perform just as well.

Your truck has a CAI stock. Just replace the filter for a AFE dry , save your .ones for other better mods. But it's your money.....

I love the sound I get from my aFe intake. Many scoffer’s here about aftermarket CAI’s but do what makes you happy, I’m glad I did!

Could also add HPS 57-1600 silicone tube and call it a day. Or can also call it poor mans TRD intake haha.
