    We use Hilti screw in anchors. I think the tensile strength is somewhere close to 10k and 5k sheer. Can't remember exactly. Anchor training in the spring!

    Thinking out loud.

    There are epoxy adhesives specifically for anchors in rock climbing and for commercial applications, expensive but they are more reliable than expanding anchors especially if the hole isn't perfect. Ready to use in a few minutes.

    One thing that sticks in my mind from training with expanding anchors and climbing was using a drill bit with a + vs a | tip so the hole is more round.

    With a battery SDS and a good bit, even Granite is easy to drill into relatively speaking so yeah in a pinch it would be handy to have in your kit for emergencies.

    I don't think I'd want to glue down a steel plate and then anchor off that (or even expanding bolt it to the rock). If it ever came unstuck.....

    A sheet of high tensile fabric like Kevlar with a Loop(s) in it to attach to, would probably work better and be easier to glue to an odd shaped rock. Then you could use a solvent/heat to soften the glue to remove the "recovery blanket"

    I wonder what the highest rating of climbing cams would be, they work great if you have a crack/split in the rock and are easy to install and remove.

    alternatively a recovery blanket already exists, if you're able to wrap around the rock.

    but for a rock face itself...

    maybe add a recovery point at the center of the blanet, that way each arm can have an anchor bolt to itself and it distributes the loading.
    effectively creating this scenario;

    edit; while searching for deadman anchros. i also found this;

    simple as jack hammering out a slot for the tire and a channel for the winch line!

    Is it bad that the tape fix we did on the trail is still what is holding my junk…..

    I need a sewing machine. What mode is that? Can sew heavy material apparently.

    Edit: upon closer inspection…..are those hand stitched?

    as the saying goes; nothing is more permanent than a temporary solution!

    yes, hand stitched :bananadead:. my Mum has one of the industrial sewing machines but fuck if i know how to figure that thing out. it's witchcraft to me.
    I figured there isn't much loading on the last 4 or 5 wraps since the end of the wrap is held on by a single bolt (which yanked out of the metal sleeve when i went to wash the winch line) and even then iirc the shittybilt manual says to do 10 unloaded wraps before putting a 1ton load to correctly tighten the winch line.

    should be fiiiiiiiiiiiine.
    what's the worst that can happen?

    yeah exactly you’ll be fine. I think I did actually go back and figure out a knot instead of tape. Non the less no more load then the bolt/lug will take anyways.

    You can also use 4' rebar and drive a few pieces into the ground at an angle and use them as a tie off point. :) Just drive them all the way in if it's soft ground when your done so you don't pop the next guy's tire. Lol.

    But I think the BEST piece of recovery gear that could get you unstuck from any situation with virtually no effort is made by Sikorsky. A little expensive but almost impossible to be stuck.

    Just give them a call and say you want a Sikorsky Model S-64 and 300' of kevlar rope.

    Think we could get @Norilsk on the calendar again if we hooked him up to one of those?

    I'm just saying, if you've never seen a Sikorsky on 38s, you would.

    You know if a certain someone had a Sikorsky... it would be easy to recognize.... only one with 42" Geolander tires on it.

    (Notice no names need to be mentioned)

    Yep no confusing that name as having anything but a Borscht upbringing.

    I figured that we would have to use some Russian equipment to get a certain someone out,
    Since he has an innate Russian skill of breaking things, at least all Russian design things are easy to fix (you know, because, Russians break things so it's by design)
    Russians won't mind if we sent it back with a little duct tape on it. All part of doing business.

    Okay sorta new to this thread, looks interesting though.
    But does anyone have any good recomendations for camping trails that are suitable for a stock truck? I got a/t's and a couple little things but i wanna do some light trekking with the Gf. We try to get out camping a few times a year but now that i got a vehicle a little more offroad capable i wouldn't mind exploring some trails

    Edit: im located southern most ontario right near Lake Erie, we usually travel up to about 8 hours though
