    Question for the collectors:
How do you know which sets are going to be exclusive, sought after and hard to get?
For instance, the Bespin Duel set. A set with a retail of $40, sells for ~$130, right after its released.
That one might not be such a good example because it looks like it was supposed to be a CC exclusive, but covid made it a target exclusive.
It seems though that there are sets that are expected to be just as "collectible" as this one prior to release.
How do you know? What should I keep an eye on? Is there a trend or formula to be able to identify a hot set?
    Thanks in advance!

I don’t think there is a magic formula for this. I got lucky with the Bespin Duel primarily because I collect Star Wars. Some sets are just hot sellers and go out of stock quickly. Most return within a few weeks or months.

Normally I buy what I really want upon release. The ones I’m on the fence about, I wait for some sale, gift with purchase, or double points to push me over the edge. I’ve missed out on a few sets due to them retiring unexpectedly.

I don’t buy to flip the sets for a profit. But most sets do increase in value after being retired. There is almost always someone who missed out or is just getting into the hobby and wants to pick up the older sets. I did my fair share of picking up retired sets but it ultimately costed way to much. Long story short I’d know what you like and want, pick up early so you don’t miss out.

    FedEx lost Santa
Tracking says it was delivered yesterday. I was home all day, no one was on my porch all day.
There are a lot of identical buildings in my neighborhood so I just went and walked a block north and south and checked porches. Nothing.
Filed a claim with FedEx. This should be fun. Betting it was a New/temp driver that got confused.

    So no Santa for me.
And my PAB order is still MIA too

Anyone know where I can get a Lego mini fig of Ruth Bader Ginsburg? I understand at one time there was one available and I'd like to get one for someone as a Christmas gift. Thanks.

So I looked into this. Lego has not offered any official RBG minifig. However there are many floating around on the googles. Most are just custom made. I did find this one kids article about her.

    https://www.lego.com/en-us/kids/art...der-ginsburg-9f0736ee8edcc08fa99ef6a6013a40b0

You might be able to copy some of the custom ones by ordering the minifig parts off bricklink.

Thanks! I appreciate the input. I don't buy to flip, just enjoy collecting as much as I like building them.
My main problem is finding the room to display everything. I'm gonna have to start rotating.

I regularly day dream about installing shelves about 20 inches from the ceiling, wall to wall, everywhere, to display it all

just a guess but look for sets that have unique/new parts and new minifigures. the rarer the parts and figs the more collectible it may become

I certainly know about that. To the point I don’t build much. It’s just easier to leave them sealed. Consequently I have a stockpile of retired sets now.
