Hey Connecticut, our everything hurts

A good friend of mine brought her car to Hyundai to get the steering fixed (EPS).
The need to keep her car for a day or so, they gave her a 3rd Gen, dual cab, short bed Tacoma for a loaner!

Parent/teacher conference today for both kiddos. Both via zoom and not in person.

First up the youngest. First one of it's kind for her since she just started K this year. So far we had heard good things in email updates from her teacher. Even won student of the day last week. No surprises in the conference. Some small things to work on, but nothing unusual since it's still early on in the school year.

Then the oldest. Not our first rodeo since he's in 2nd grade. Has always been a good student, always scoring very high, and always getting good feedback from his teachers about anything academic. Only "issue" with him is that he's always very "handsy" with other kids. Not in a bad way though. So teacher starts off with beginning of the year assessment, and how low he scored. Figured it was because it was right after summer break, and trying to get back into the swing of things. Scored low both in reading and math. Said his work in class was amazing, always participating, always sharing, always helping and a great role model to the other kids. Did bring up the handsy thing. The Mrs and I were not surprised about the handsy thing, but were VERY surprised about his low scoring. He had always been a high scorer in everything, so this took us by surprise. So after we hung up with the teacher, we had a very stern talking to, about everything. Put us in a bad mood because we were not expecting it.

Well... After we had "ripped into him", I'm checking my email, and see one from his teacher. Seems like she had the wrong report card up, and was reading another student's. Said she was really sorry. WTF!!!! Turns out the kiddo is exceeding across the board, well above grade level, and even almost as high scores as you can possibly get in everything they tested. The Mrs started crying because she felt like shit for having "ripped into him". So we apologized to him, explained what happened, and he understood and was super happy about how he was really doing.

What a fucking day. I'm ready to throw back a few and forget about things for a while.

 

Sounds like an ice cream kinda day for the kiddos

 

We'll definitely treat them tomorrow. They deserve it.

 

And a couple of frosty beverages for Mom and Dad..

 

Mom doesn't drink, but I sure as shit do!

Well fellas after a long weekend and 90% of the funds for my suspension the new run is up and “Bear proofed” or at least I hope! When he does come back he’s getting a hell of a shock!
