I thought I'd share this here because I haven't seen anything else about anyone doing this. I plasti dipped my emblems a dark gray color earlier this week, and I wanted my rear tailgate TACOMA lettering to match. I bought a set of black raised metal tailgate letters on Amazon, put them on, then plasti dipped them the same way I did the emblems.

Weird lighting in this photo, but looks pretty damn good if you ask me.IMG_2141.HEIC.jpg

I did the Plasti dip thing to all the emblems on my "12 regular I sold recently. Still looked good after 9 years. Thinking about doing it again to my "21 I recently bought.

Did you mask off the areas around the lettering? How about the cut outs in the "A" "O" and "C"?

After spending a few months on TW I'm beginning to think that you could solve the world's problems with Plasti Dip and duct tape.

Just in a rectangle around the emblem. Use light coats and be careful not to bridge the paint between the emblem and the paint. If you need to, use a toothpick to carefully go around the edge of the emblem. Then slowly peel off the tape and the plastic dip from the painted surface. Masking and painting the tailgate letters is more work. I bought some factory looking ones from eye-catcher for forty bucks and it took 3 minutes to put them on.
