Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Haven't been up that way in 20 years. Closest I got recently was Vya, in 2017.

Years ago it was nice. I want to go back and fish the ponds up there and generally go screw around some more.

I plan on making that trip, all backrounds and dirt the entire way there. I could go 80 to winnemucca and go north but thats not a fun route. thats a route for hybrid. I want to explore that area and go opal mining. Our anniversary is coming up soon and my wife loves outdoors stuff. I want to take her somewhere cool, maybe panning for gold, opal mining. and some nice tbones over a fire with wine, hot springs soak .

Last time I was there, we drove up 447, then out from Gerlach to Vya, and headed east-ish on...8A, I think. I'd have to pull up a map again.

That's a pretty nice drive, other than the speed traps on Indian land. When I took the kid a few years ago, it was May (we ended up at the obsidian beds in CA, though). I recall someplace up there had the best grilled cheese sammich I've ever had. I think it was at Denio Junction (we essentially made a big loop in 2001).

I took the kiddo up to Davis Creek. We got some nice needles, lots of brown-black stuff, and a few chips of rainbow stuff. We dug for hours but couldn't find any big pieces. We wanted to go looking for the pink stuff, up high, but it was May, and the road was snowed in. She wasn't up for the hike. :)

Did a trip a few years ago up there. Took 80 > 95 > 140 to get up there then came back down south through the Summit Lake Res and Soldier Meadows to Black Rock.

Was really fun and barely saw anyone. Super remote. Took a couple side trails to get from one major road to another that ended up being really rough. Would not want to break down out there.

The pools on the refuge are nice and they have showers using water from the spring. Campground is nothing special. Just a big flat area with some tables and trees.

Also highly recommend Thousand Creek Gorge. It’s “the Grand Canyon of Nevada.”

they were just mad. damn goldens want to eat everything, she is mad because she ate cow poop and tracked it inside the backseat and she got reamed for it. The lab just wanders the desert like a nutless wonder, excited chasing rabbits and birds. both good doggos, now they are getting the VIP treatment at the doggie salon.

I'll see your chocolate, and raise you a red. I guess AKC considers them a yellow, though. 4 months on the 30th. The Talib could take lessons from this little shit. ;)
